Simply means if you haven't walked in their shoes, a person probably really doesn't understand. Maybe there are those that rich on here, but I doubt. There might be an accountant or financial advisor that has clients that are n the Forbes category and maybe they would.

So people using legal means that were approved of by either law or regulation are cheating? How is that any different then you or me reducing our tax burden legally by itemizing deductions? At what point does it go from "deductions we have all taken" to cheating? You know that if you're really concerned about the government being better funded you don't HAVE to take any deductions? You and like people that agree with you can always pay more if you so desire.

 

 

Taking the legal deductions are fine. There are those that don't pay because they place money in foreign accounts, launder money, have services provided by people they don't account for. That is the beginning. I am not talking about legal deductions.

The problem I have with your commentary is that you are making the moral equivalent of cheating and using legal tax deductions. That is what I am saying. What is wrong with using the law to your advantage? As someone else asked of you, do you not use those tax deductions that you are allowed to use? Congress has granted the top earners more deductions than the average earner. A very good reason to simplify the tax code. Maybe you should be mad at Congress. They are the ones who created the convoluted mess that we call a tax code.

 

I am not mad at anyone, not even frustrated. Just trying to share my beliefs that those in poverty don't do anything different than the rich or even the middle class. They are just living and surviving in their world which is different than mine or someone that is ultra wealthy.

Maybe this could help settle our difference in viewpoints. You may see taking legitimate deductions as Ok, but then there will be those who try to cheat anyway. A difference in how to approach our differing viewpoints. I admit there are cheaters no matter the situation, but there are legit deductions.

I would say that this thread in microcosm illustrates the very harsh divide in the country and it's only getting worse. People (myself included at some times) can no longer respectfully disagree. There has to be some ulterior motive behind the disagreement. Misogyny, racism, laziness, greed etc. It's truly more about party then policy now then anytime I can remember and I remember Watergate. I was livid with the actions of the Freedom Caucus in the House because of their unwillingness to compromise on healthcare and I hold Republicans in the Senate to the same standard. Inaction on Healthcare legislation will lead to single payer, the left's goal. By the same token I truly believe that this administration could come up with a real plan that would correct the deficiencies of Obamacare and Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer would have their troops in lockstep opposing it. As much as I didn't like what the Freedom Caucus did at least they showed that they can be independent of Party leadership. There's not a single Democrat in either chamber that can make the same claim. Basically we're screwed.

I agree. Sam Ervin and Howard Baker from opposing parties ran the hearings very well.
