When I was a young married bride, my husband went on a guy's golf trip. My mother, who was normally the most sensible person I knew said "Husband and wives should never take separate vacations. It leads to a troubled marriage." I was so upset and truly believed her. She and my dad never spent time apart.

 

A couple years later, I was invited on a girls trip to Las Vegas and had the time of my

life! 38 years later we still go on our own guys or gal trips. Mama was wrong about that one.

I've only been married 27 years so what would I know, but I will tell you there are times that you absolutely don't need to talk!

 

No one can hurt you more or you them, than the person that you love...in most cases it is better to leave things unsaid when angry or mad. If you have a point to make, you can make it in the morning after everyone has calmed down.

 

Sitcom couples that continually ridicule and demean each other are more unrealistic than the physics in a Road Runner Cartoon.
