For all those posters on bluegrasspreps.com, and for anybody else who reads bluegrasspreps.com and you arent from Johnson County... there is no way you can understand. Understand how Johnson Central and Paintsville feel about each other on the football field.

JC will run it up and like one poster said it will come back to haunt them someday. I think everything comes in cycles and P-ville someday will have a team that will be able to run it up on JC and they will. For now, JC is the superior team and I look for them to prove it with a crazy score. This will add drama to future games and small towns love drama!

I know someone out there has a record book of this series. I would like to see all the games listed so we can see if JC can break a apple bowl scoring record.

For those of you wondering... Paintsville does lead the all-time apple bowl series 20-12.

I dont have a record book of this series but i do know that Paintsville leads that all-time series but 7 or 8 games. But the answer to your last question, if you are referring to the last margin of victory, was set last year when JC defeated Paintsville 50-6. The most points ever scored in a game may have been back in 2002 when the two teams score a combined 75 points in a Paintsville 45-30 win. This may not be the highest scoring game in history but is in the past 10 years i know.

My math isnt the best... Johnson Central has scored 493 points in this game and been shut-out 6 times. The biggest wins are both from JC. In 1993 JC won 56-12 and in 2005 JC won 50-6. The smallest margin of victory is by 2 points... and that has been done 74 (JC), 92 (P'ville) and 94 (JC) games.

Paintsville has scored 569 points and have been shut-out 1 time. This game has only went to overtime once, in the 87 game JC won 14-6. The point total of this game in 32 meetings in 1062.

I am from Johnson County and I am a former Golden Eagle and I don't understand all of the talk from a handfull of JC fans about running the score up and the other trash talk posted here. It was wrong when Paintsville fans did it, and it is even more wrong when our fans do it. Johnson Central should dominate the series with Paintsville because of the huge enrollment gap. Johnson Central should win the games by wide margins in most years.

Above all, Johnson Central's coaches, players, and fans should respond to success on the field with the same class that the supporters of most top notch programs around the states exhibit. I can understand fans getting carried away when responding to posts from supporters of a bitter rival, but unlike past seasons, I have not read any posts by Paintsville fans that would account for such trash talking. In fact, I have read very few posts of any kind from Paintsville football fans this season.

Paintsville is in a rebuilding season this year with its third coach in as many years. In contrast, this may be JC's best team ever. There is nothing pretty about kicking a man or a team when it is down. Let's not act like a blowout win over the Tigers will be a key victory for JC this season. It won't be and it shouldn't be. Trash talking is bad enough, but trash talking by a team with JC's playoff history sounds just plain silly - particularly when directed at a small 1A team.

I also hope for a lopsided margin of victory in the Apple Bowl by the Golden Eagles. However, I hope that it comes with Matney playing every man on the bench and with the freshman team scoring the last couple of touchdowns. To run up a score using one's first team late in the game is wrong, no matter who does it, and I expect that Matney will reward his young players with some playing time if he gets the opportunity.

I am going to go get a parking spot in a few minutes... no joke, this game is going to be the biggest crowd at a high school football game in the state this week.

The highest point total was 75 set in 2002, with Paintsville winning 45-30. The lowest scoring game was in 1982, Paintsville won 3-0, I assume those points came from a field goal.

Paintsville has scored 569 points and have been shut-out 1 time. This game has only went to overtime once, in the 87 game JC won 14-6.

In the '88' season (my senior year) the apple bowl went ot. If my memory is correct it went in to double overtime, with P-ville pulling it out. I think this was the best game ever, but I might be bias since I played in this one. :D

The colored plates on the barrel doesnt show this game going into overtime, just the 1987 game with JC winning 14-6. But if you played in it, I will take your word.

This was an overtime game. The game ended with Jc on the 1 or 2 yard line on 4th down. Instead of running Brian Hall, who was getting 4 yards on about every carry. JC staff tried to shake it up with a pass that fell incomplete. great game.

:thumb: :thumb: Good post. I also hope for a lopsided victory, with JC playing like a top AAA contender and neither team loosing anyone to injury. With the schedule we have JC must exacute and take care of buisness just like they have been doing, if they want to prepare for the playoffs and district games. If they take care of business as usual the score should be gratifying enough to satisfy without rubbing someones nose in it. District championships weren't even discussed in my playing days. If this group of young men will stay focused about the job at hand and not listen to how good everyone thinks they are they will be fine. Just remember it's been a long time since we have even won a playoff game so we have alot more to prove to gain the respect that we know this team deserves
