Russell 55 Powell County 0

I don't know if Raceland will be one, I think alot of people in the area would like to see it but I don't think it will happen.

No offense to Raceland, but a Russell-Raceland matchup would be the most pointless game of the season. Never play a game (unless districts require it) that will not benefit you if you win.

I guess we don't rate the "home and home" schedule that the Tomcats get, huh?

Was the conversion that failed on the third touchdown a result of a bad snap / busted play?

How does this game not benefit Russell if they win? Raceland is a top 10 Class A team and possibly the best team in the area this year. Raceland has alot of young talent, so dont think for one second that next years Russell/Raceland matchup will not benefit the devils. It will be a BATTLE, both teams will benefit greatly from this game.

This type of post is exactly why I could care less if the Raceland/Russell game never was played again!!!!

I understand that it is not all Russell fans that speak this way. It is pretty bad when the game has only been scheduled just a few days ago and the sarcasim has started on your first post concerning the game. Why not just sit back and let the kids involved enjoy the opportunity to play each other as they have many times over the years without all the extra talk?

Why would the game be pointless? It would be a great gate for both schools and allow the players who are friends away from the field a chance to compete with each other.

Please explain to me why the game between the two would not benefit one or the other teams!! I am interested in your answer as others may be as well.

Even if Raceland was a top 10 this year, they will not be very often. Raceland will be the weaker opponent 9 out of 10 years. My only point is that Russell would want to schedule tougher opponents on open dates to prepare them for the playoffs. If I had to choose between Raceland and Johnson Central, it's a no brainer. No offense to Raceland and their fine program meant. Beating Raceland will not really prepare them (unless Raceland has one of those rare VERY STRONG teams, such as perhaps this season) and losing to them, well, you're a Raceland fan, so you know how you'd react.

Is your comment about playing another opponent based on this years JC team? If so I agree, but if you look at past history you are dead wrong on your coments about Raceland being a weaker opponent 9 out of 10 years. You are entitled to your opinion and I respect that but if you look at past playoff appearances by JC & Raceland your 9 out of 10 year comment is way off base. 13 straight playoff appearances from 1986 through 1999 doesn't sound to me like a weak opponent. We have not won to many but Rams have only missed the playoff in 1976,78,81,83,85 & 2000.

I apologize for getting away from the intended subject of this thread.

Again, not to belittle Raceland. I have the utmost respect for the program. First, Johnson Central was just an example. However, I think if Johnson Central was in Raceland's district they would be a playoff team EVERY year. If Raceland was in Johnson Central's district, they would not make the playoffs very often. There is no comparison there.

Scheduling games is just not a snap of the fingers. You have to find teams who, first, are willing to play. Second you must find compatible dates to play. So just saying hey lets play Ironton or JC or a strong team is also contingent on schedule openings, etc.....

The same could be said about most team in all districts.

You are correct. There are many variables that determine a teams schedule.

Yes, it was a bad snap/dropped hold (not sure which) kind of play...for some reason, the ball was a little slippery Friday night
