Again, not to belittle Raceland. I have the utmost respect for the program. First, Johnson Central was just an example. However, I think if Johnson Central was in Raceland's district they would be a playoff team EVERY year. If Raceland was in Johnson Central's district, they would not make the playoffs very often. There is no comparison there.

IF Johnson Central was in Raceland's district wouldn't that make them an awfully big single "A" school or Raceland a very small "AAA" school?? - and if a frog had wings..........

This type of post is exactly why I could care less if the Raceland/Russell game never was played again!!!!

I understand that it is not all Russell fans that speak this way. It is pretty bad when the game has only been scheduled just a few days ago and the sarcasim has started on your first post concerning the game. Why not just sit back and let the kids involved enjoy the opportunity to play each other as they have many times over the years without all the extra talk?

:thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: Very well stated cville, I have said the samre thing on other threads with this question discussed. Raceland cetainly does not need a Russell on their schedule to make any kind of a statement and I am sure they feel the same way.

I thought this board was about "talking". I simply made an observation that the series will not be the same as you have with the Ashland Tomcats. Sarcasm not withstanding, you and I both know that there was much "talk" and discussion regarding the fact that Raceland plays at Ashland each and every year. I happen to agree that the games should be played on a "home" and "away" basis. That's how normal football series are structured.

I believe Raceland has turned their program around with the current coach and staff. I'm sure the games will be competitive most years. It will allow Raceland the chance each year to gauge their talent against a bigger school where playing in November is just expected. Were there better teams Russell could have scheulded? Probably. But none that close and with that kind of guaranteed gate. So, yes I'll sit back and let the kids enjoy the opportunity to play each other. Heck, I've always enjoyed a parade. :sssh:

Sarcasm is withstanding in the previous post as well as in this one. This is not a Raceland/Russell thread so I will not hijack it any more than it has been already. I just hope that it doesn't rain on your parade!!

It's a done deal...Play at Raceland in week 10 next year...

Really? It's the 1st I've heard of it. I had heard some of Russell's head honchos didn't wanted to try to schedule someone else around the area.

I think this will be a good matchup. This reminds of win Raceland first scheduled with Ashland. No one ever thought it would be a battle on the field or that Raceland would be a worthy opponent. Hmmm.........

Yes, it was a bad snap/dropped hold (not sure which) kind of play...for some reason, the ball was a little slippery Friday night

Yeah, I talked to the snapper after the game and he said he asked the official if they would dry the ball off, but either the official refused or didn't hear him. So as soon as he put his hands on the ball it started slipping and he couldn't move it or face a penalty, so when he snapped it, it squirted out of his hand and barely made it to the holder.

But then on the next touchdown, the reverse was opposite. He got a good snap back to the holder, but he dropped it. But was able to pick it up and run it in for the 2 pt conversion.

Funny things happen when an oblong ball is wet and muddy :D :D

It is true. My understanding from someone pretty close at Raceland was that the AD's got together and agreed on a home/home arrangement for week 10 in 07', (I don't know what week in 08'). The AD from Raceland has signed and as of Monday was awaiting the contract back from the AD at Russell.

(Note:) Just a comment about RD78's little rub about the away/away Ashland series Raceland has. My same source told me that after this contract with Ashland is up, the AD at Raceland told him that anymore with Ashland would have to be home/away contract. But I guess we'll see. But $9,000 to play at Ashland each year is hard to pass up.

Yea, I knew it wasn't in concrete yet. I wouldn't bet on it until it's official.

I had heard this about the Raceland/Russell game a while back but I wasn't going to post it bc I wasn't for sure about it.

I had the same about the Russell adimin and coaches on this. I do know that they have turned down a game with Raceland several times when it could had been worked out schedule wise. That is not trying to get a shot in on Russell about "dodging" Raceland either, just something that I know to be fact for whatever reason they may have had.
