Covington Catholic 57 Dixie Heights 45 (9th Region Quarterfinals)

I hope Coach Chevalier enjoys the next phase/segment of his life. He has been my friend for 35 plus years, I wish him nothing but the best.

I am surprised I have not heard more about this or seen a thread on here. Maybe I missed it. I saw one post in another thread that vaguely inferred Chevalier was retiring and was confused by it but now I see.

Congratulations to Ken Chevalier on an excellent coaching career and best wishes on whatever is next.

Dixie has a really nice team! Congrats to CCH as well on the win.

How long has AJ's "little" brother been getting varsity minutes?

More as the year has gone on. He was the 1st one off the bench last night.

Travesty.

Great kid, family, and good student...Dixies system didn't provide the big #s required to attract D1-2 offers!

Confident solid camps this spring will land him with a solid fit. And if necessary a year of prep school to gain exposure if necessary, hope that's not the case!

Proud of the Dixie Heights Colonels on a very good 26 win season, well done boys! Hats off to the blueboys on the W...depth and good defense will serve you well moving forward! :thumb:

Dixie has nothing to do with offers.

Just like covcaths "system" has nothing to do with offers! :bunny: Feel free to pm me moving forward on this subject!

I am sure the technical also had a little something to do with it. What exactly happened, I was looking away?

I heard from someone who was actually watching that end of the floor say it was a very cheap foul, his 3rd. Dixie kid pushed him from behind and Walter reacted with a shove back, just 2 aggressive players jockeying for position. Once the call was made and Walter was heading down the court a Dixie player deliberately brushed up on him and he gave him a chicken wing as to say get off of me. That is when he got T'd up.

Both fouls shouldve been No Calls according to my source.

Offers are gained during AAU when coaches get out to see a lot of players.

Did Hunter play AAU? Team?

Walter also got up in the kids face after the chicken wing.

Smart move on that Dixie players part. If you know someone has a temper and it's boiling why not take a chance and poke the bear once more.

...And "your source" would be WAY wrong on both accounts. It all happened away from the ball and I saw every bit of it.

Yes there was jockeying for position and Walter shoved the kid very vividly, and after the foul was called and they were walking down the court Walter blatantly shoves again.

Instant 'T' no doubt about it.

No doubt there was jawing, but of course I wasn't close enough to hear what was said.

If "your source" saw it any other way then they'd probably benefit from having their eyes examined.

CCH coach Fredrick does a good job getting the college coaches to their games and practices and even has special workouts for the college coaches. I am not sure if this is just for his nephew but regardless, it's great exposure.

I'll agree with this. Your HS coach may do a good job of talking with schools when they call but for most part they are not actually going out a looking for schools for you. AAU is where the maximum exposure is and where coaches will come to watch specific kids and then to talk to players. It also comes back to the family doing the work in contacting schools/coaches.

Not at saying Hunter and family has not been doing this, just my thoughts on how the process.

Anyone know where he played AAU and if he had interest? I know a couple other players on Dixie's team has had multiple schools contacting them.

Fact: You have to play competitive summer basketball to be seen and evaluated by college coaches.
