February 24, 20179 yr I wish I had even a hundredth of the ability you all do for DIY stuff. I'd love to do woodworking, but I'm absolutely ignorant when it comes to any of this kind of stuff. You just need the right motivation.

Both beds were easy to build as they had no under bed storage. My daughter's bed was bought from Ashley furniture 8 years ago, and it's already falling apart. She wants me to build her a new one this summer.
February 24, 20179 yr You just need the right motivation. Sand, sand, sand, and when you think it's just smooth enough, sand some more. Then put a thick coat of poly or lacquer. You don't want splinters...... :eek:

On the larger bed, I believe I used thread inserts with some brackets on the rails. I built that one around 7 years ago, so I don't fully recall. On the kid's bed, I used some plans online, and you actually build a ladder frame that the rails attach to. You then bolt the ladder frame to the posts of the headboard and footboard.

I helped a friend of mine repair a broken rail on his son's twin bed a while back. (His six year old had been jumping on his bed with two of his friends and one of the rails couldn't take it.) February 24, 20179 yr I'm planning on remodeling the kids bathroom this year. As part of that I'm planning on building the vanity myself. It will actually end up be a double with a tower in the middle. I build this a few years ago to give us some cover on our patio. Haha I'll stop in if I'm down seeing fam in Hendo or maybe even go out of the way from seeing those down around LBL. Just a heads up my man. Hahaha

No worries. Exact same here. I'm envious as hell of those who do. I can't build jack. Can't fix anything either. However; I love (and, like to think I've got some kind of skill) landscaping, but it's kind of hard to mess up dirt.
