I'm merely asking a question. What would you do with that info? You can choose to answer, or avoid. I have no idea why you said what you did, so I asked. Not bent out of shape at all. Like I said, there's nothing you can do, so in the end, not worth pursuing an answer to.

Years ago, I was very active on the LA Times political forum. At that time, the forum exposed poster's IP addresses. A jerk sent me a very short, insulting message through the forum. Something like, "My God, you are an idiot." The guy used his last name, which was very unusual, in his screen name.

 

I used his IP address and name and figured out that his IP provider was Cincinnati Bell and I was also able to deduce his email address. I sent him an email that went something like this, "No, , idiots go online and insult total strangers in the mistaken belief that they are doing so anonymously."

 

That was a special case in which somebody who had a unique name in this country (he was a junior and his father was a senior in Florida). In another case, I helped a fellow poster who was getting death threats put an end to them by letting her know where a man was located.

 

Most of the truly nasty characters on the internet use proxy servers to hide behind, but those who don't are very easy to find with a subpoena. IP addresses are not quite the equivalent of fingerprints, but responsible websites do not divulge them to the public for good reason.

Why do you think the USA is going "down the tubes"? This isn't me starting an argument with you, it's genuine curiosity. Some derivation of that phrase is often used by people on both sides of the political spectrum, but it's a very abstract concept so I always like to ask what that means to them.

Not starting a healthcare issue here, but its not working now. I am not sure how you give something for free to some and not all. Someone pays. And now its me. And you. And insurance companies are leaving the exchanges quick. Gotta be fixed somehow.
