Milton Friedman's solution to the uninsured

Featured Replies

I don't advocate socialism, but anytime someone suggests helping all through government out is automatically socialism. It is the only card most can use because they either refuse to or don't want to try and understand another point of view. We are probably never going agree, I am ok with that. I am sure you will be to.
Forcefully taking wealth from one group of people to give it to another group of people who are perfectly capable of working and providing for themselves and their families is my definition of socialism.

Whether you agree with that definition or not, it is not going to change my definition. Providing mandatory charity under threat of incarceration to those who refuse to work and continue to have children that they are unwilling to support is not my idea of freedom. It is simply extortion.

I will and have survived quite well in my ignorant world. Maybe I am wrong, but economics is a social science that uses human behaviors to support their theories. Friedman was brilliant with middle class human behavior, poverty he was way off the mark.

I know people worship the guy, fine, his strategy in the video will not work in poverty, That is no more of a fact than his statement. His was an opinion in the video in the opening post., But headed out, iwt was fun have a great day!

So just to allow you to save face and retract your statement. If we discussed the Supply/demand model in it's most generic format , would you label that just theory and no fact involved and just call it someones opinion?

But they can be unless a person lives in the AYN Rand world of fiction.
A government that behaves illogically is not in it for the long haul.

I have never seen such an attack on logic that I have seen in this thread. It is telling when liberals admit that logic is not on their side.

How do you feel about Feudalism?

Well, I gotta answer before I head out the door. Yes, it is a theory that uses data (factual depends) to support someone's opinion on their economic principle.

So Supply /demand is a theory.

It was literally the most astonishing statement I have heard in awhile. If you don't bring reason and logic into every decision you make that is the definition of an unreasonable person.

Do you understand what theory means ? Darwin also has the Theory of Evolution. Would someone not ridicule a person if they didn't believe this to be fact. But somehow you are making an argument that Economic theories aren't based in factual evidence.

You sounds like those Christians who believe the world is only 5 thousands years old. It's only a theory !

Didn't you say on here you work in Education ?

Yes, I do know what a theory is? Laws of science are factual, theories are not. Theories are based on the researchers facts. Supply/demand is not a law of science.

I am against it. You?

How does a totally free, no government entitlement society with huge disparity between the haves and have nots differ from Feudal society?

So we have someone on here who works in education , helping mold young minds. But you don't use logic when making all your decisions and your on here disputing basic economic principles. I don't want to.get in a detailed argument because it will be boring that is why I kept it generic. It is now good to know not to engage on any discussion of economic principles because you do not base your opinion on reason, logic , or basic economic principles. You are basically saying you go with what makes you feel good and that is dangerous on so many levels.

How does a totally free, no government entitlement society with huge disparity between the haves and have nots differ from Feudal society?

Is this a serious question ?

So Supply /demand is a theory.

Do you know of any evidence that casts doubt as to the validity of the relationship among supply, demand, and prices in a free market system? For which "theory" is there a stronger correlation between theory and evidence, supply and demand curves or anthropocentric global warming?
Is this a serious question ?

Yes. I believe a totally free, capitalistic, every man for himself society is doomed to failure and is not drastically different from Feudal society.

I will add that most wars and rebellions are driven by greed and economic reasons. If you do not have mechanisms in your society to provide support and opportunity for the weakest, rebellion will follow at some point.
