February 10, 20179 yr No your emotional response " but what about the children" sounds good in a Sociology course by some unintellectual proffessor. But creating laws on logic and reason is what should be taking place. Creating straw man arguments just does not work with me. I just went straight to where your argument breaks. Not one person wants to see people especially children dying in the streets or at the hospital doors over economic principle.
February 10, 20179 yr Also for the record you are ok with using the text book with scientists who want extreme global warming laws but when I suggest reason and logic in economics it some how creates laughter ? Economics and math are every bit the science that is Ecology and Biology. Extreme laws? I don't know that I have supported any extreme laws. I support a movement toward cleaner and a more sustainable energy rather than that "smoke'em if you got 'em" philosophy we have had. All have gray areas. Healthcare just seems to me a way we could get rid of a gray area. The poor get great care. The rich get great care. The middle class care is iffy. Play economics after healthcare is given to all.

Health care isn't a right as I don't believe any product is a right.
February 10, 20179 yr Health care isn't a right as I don't believe any product is a right. Why not? A public service? Tax money goes for a lot of things. I would much rather see it go to healthcare.
February 10, 20179 yr Why not? A public service? Tax money goes for a lot of things. I would much rather see it go to healthcare. You eliminate government programs first then we will talk.
February 10, 20179 yr You eliminate government programs first then we will talk. Healthcare would help all Americans. I would be willing to start there with zero qualms.
February 10, 20179 yr Healthcare would help all Americans. I would be willing to start there with zero qualms. Government health care would hurt more than it helped. That is just an economic fact. You are just choosing who to hurt.
February 10, 20179 yr Government health care would hurt more than it helped. That is just an economic fact. You are just choosing who to hurt. Today we choose to hurt those that premiums and deductibles strain their budgets. They are an accident away from a bankruptcy. Who were you thinking ? As I said Rich and poor are covered.

February 10, 20179 yr Government isn't the answer , government is the problem in private industry. Until the private industry needs help. Healthcare has fleeced America for too long.
February 10, 20179 yr Until the private industry needs help. Healthcare has fleeced America for too long. Government restricions , regulations, along with Insurance lobbyist I agree. But adding more government just adds to the problem.
February 10, 20179 yr Government restricions , regulations, along with Insurance lobbyist I agree. But adding more government just adds to the problem. Healthcare is a total mess from bureaucracy of the government to the big time companies. IMO, the largest problem is the strain on the middle class. If those people are covered it isn't worse. Cut the living wage down if needed to cover insurance.
February 10, 20179 yr Lots of good people have made bad decisions. IMO, health is not a reward. So if the government gives you $3000 to buy healthcare and you don't buy it, you believe there should be another safeguard? At what point do we learn that handouts don't motivate people to become productive citizens? Edited February 10, 20179 yr by Builder1214
February 10, 20179 yr If a parent makes the wrong choices then they shouldn't be parents and I would be ok aiding the children until Adulthood. I do not believe in rewarding bad behavior. That would cost more than health care and solves nothing.
February 10, 20179 yr The guy is brilliant but has no understanding of reality in relation to human behavior. Logical yes, practical, no. As was stated, adults can make their decisions and live with the consequences, children no. No one talks about a hybrid where all Children are covered with health care until XXX age. We don;'t even see that movement. That would be a start, then we can talk Friedman's model. Otherwise, he's just blew fantasy economic smoke up our ---.
