DUI Detecting Tostito's Bag

Featured Replies

Is Frito-Lay/Pepsico just begging to be sued with this idea...granted only 1000 bags are being made, but still.

Here is a clue, if you have to blow into a Tostito's bag to determine if you can drive or not...just don't.

Tostitos tackling Super Bowl drunk driving with "Party Safe" bag

The bag has a sensor that can trace alcohol on a person’s breath. If no alcohol is detected, the bag will light up green. If it detects alcohol, the front turns red with an image of a steering wheel and says “don’t drink and drive.” An Uber code will flash that will give users a discount on an Uber ride home.

They will sell a ton of those. I think it's a great idea (as long as it works). They'll need a major disclaimer to clear themselves of trouble.

So, the first time it doesn't work and someone has an alcohol related accident, is Doritos liable?

I think most people know their limit. They should just stick to making chips.

Not for sale...passing them out to select customers.

They are stupid if they don't eventually sell them.

I think your first post answers the question as to why it would not be a good idea for them to sell them. Even with a major disclaimer, anyone who drove based upon the fact that the bag didn't turn red is going to sue them legal fees would be crazy.

Cool idea.

I think it is very sad that we live in an environment where our first thoughts are about someone getting sued!

So basically if it detects any alcohol odor at all the bag will do it's thing. Why would I need the bag? The better idea would be if it detects alcohol, the bag does it's thing and then you can't open the bag. :eyeonyou:

Brilliant!!!!

I'm thinking one should have to stick their head in the bag if they are thinking about drinking and driving...then if it detects alcohol, the bag closes on their head. Lots of problems solved.
