Anyone have a problem with visiting team fans leaving a mess?

Featured Replies

I have cleaned bleachers many a time after games, tourney's etc. That stuff is a nightmare to clean up. The sticky coke spills causes it not to be just swept up. I doubt the fans realize how hard it is to clean up. So I am sure there thought process is the same as those here no big deal just sweep up but I am telling you this is very difficult to clean up. If anyone has ever run the gym mop you know how it wants to stick to the floor itself sometimes. Imagine all those little papers.

On a scale of 10, the problems a high school deals with, is a 1.

Thank you. I might even drop down to a 0.5.

If that happens in a quarter-filled gym, I might understand. Then again, if the gym is only a quarter-full, they might decide they don't need your services since gate would be weak. Be happy there was enough people there to warrant outside services for cleaning.

I don't see an issue here...did home team lose?

Unfortunately Jim I am not in the cleaning crew but a coach. The school has already decided they can not afford the professional cleaners. We clean after all freshmen games, JV games, and some varsity tourney's because the school will not pay the custodians to do that as they charge an outrageous fee to come in on weekends etc. I know many schools are in the same boat. I would think a school as large as Hoptown would pay someone. However, many small schools and the school I am at is a midsized school and you would be surprised how many teams have to clean the bleachers themselves at least some of the time. If anyone left that mess for me to clean I would be steamed. Again since you do not clean bleachers you have no idea. I think most of us would be steamed if the time to do our daily tasks was doubled by someone's else. Again I doubt those fans realize the issues involved. Again thousands of little papers sticking to every coke spill is not as easy task to clean. I would love to see how not a big deal it would be if someone caused you to have to take 3-4 times longer to do your job with no extra pay.

I guess as a colonel alumni, I have a problem with it. The atmosphere of the game was great for a while, but eventually Hoptown completely took the game over. After the students for County had given up hope early in the fourth quarter, students started throwing confetti everywhere. I don't have an issue with the mess so much, but the fact that a little of it was getting on playing surface during game. Could have easily caused an accident. To a couple of he students credits, they picked up some of it, but no where near all of it. Administrators were standing right there and never stopped it after they noticed it was getting on floor.

I have never witnessed an ending like the game. To get game over, county packed in under goal and let tigers stand in one spot and dribble out final 1:45+ minutes of games. Which makes confetti deal a little stranger.

It might not be a big deal, but it reflects poorly on the school and the administration.

THIS X 1,000. Poor reflection on the school and the kids. I would hope the administration takes some time to let their students know that this is unacceptable.

Yes, agree with previous posters. That stuff is easy to clean up. Now if you start finding chocolate sauce, spaghetti and chicken bones up in the stands ...

So now we know the secret menu at CCHS concession stands....been trying to crack that code for years...

Sweep it up and mail them a picture of the scoreboard.

Send it by FedEx
