BTW, North beat South tonight at South 36-15 and North beat Madison Central last season in a HUGE upset.

Madison Central was expected to win it and gets beat by a team that has won 3 games in 3 years.

 

South Laurel had a really good win last week over Southwestern and gets beat by North Laurel tonight.

 

GRC didn't dominate Garrard like most thought they would tonight.

 

I have to say that Lincoln is impressing a lot of people and may be the favorite right now.

 

I have been saying for weeks that North Laurel was more talented than anyone was giving them credit for. They lost to JCHS & Louisville Western, 2 very solid teams, and now that they have found their RB in Maggard, they are finding their legs. The standings so far are far from what anyone could have foreseen and don't count out North Laurel as a district title contender just yet! They beat Mad Ctrl last season, lost to GRC 12-7 and were 2 yards from a first down deep in GRC territory in the waining seconds and had figured out how to move the ball on the Cardinals, lost to SL by 8 last season, then beat them by 15 points at SL tonight, lost by 1 to Whitley County, etc. They also have an off week to get Asher back to 100%, hopefully the injury to starting center Hartney (Sr) tonight will be a temporary thing and he will be healthy as well.

 

This district is wide open right now. The consistency that Lincoln has shown so far may very well make them the favorite. :thumb:

All I can say about the game is WOW! being there was awsome. Most people dont know that this is Montgomery's first disrict win in 4 years!

Where's that guy who was trying to tell us Madison Central was one of the five best teams in the state? Did someone talk him off the bridge?

Congrats to the Indians. Coach Gooch was due this type of win. He is a very good coach and has hung tough through a very difficult season and a half.

RICHMOND — Kaleb Curtis is well-aware of just how badly Montgomery County’s football team has struggled in recent years — those past failures are an all too familiar for anyone associated with the long-suffering program.

 

But, Curtis and his teammates are doing everything they can to re-write that lack-luster history and make all those losing efforts nothing but a distant memory.

 

Curtis rushed for three touchdowns and 185 yards as Montgomery County (1-3) pulled off a stunning 26-21 win over Madison Central (2-2) Friday in Richmond. The quarterback scored on a 9-yard run with just 3:34 left in the fourth to help the Indians wrap up their first district win since moving to Class AAAA four years ago.

wow what a great article! Kaleb deserves alot of credit he is a great player.

I thought it was too. The announcers really gave him and the line their props during the broadcast.

GRC had to of there main leaders out in Conner an Rogers and when they play the team is a whole different team. Not saying there the reason they win or loose games but they help alot. It's like the team has a whole new atitude. That just what i see when I them. This is my opinion.

I thought that last year's loss to North Laurel was the biggest upset I had seen in years. IMHO, this tops it. Montgomery had 1 district win since 2003 in 18 games (1-17), .. in that same time frame, Madison Central had only lost one district game (17-1). That one loss was to NL who was better than their record indicated with 5 of 7 losses by anywhere from 1 to 8 points. Montgomery had been blown out on several occasions. This win is HUGE in the district and for the Montgomery program and Coach Gooch. My jaw still hasn't come up off the floor on this one!
