Montgomery County 26 Madison Central 21

Featured Replies

What a great win for Montgomery County! As Chief Smoke said, Coach Gooch is a great coach with an excellent staff.

As for the game, I thought Montgomery totally outplayed Central in every aspect of the game and Gooch and his staff totally outcoached Central's staff. Central is a good team and will recover from this tough loss. As for Montgomery, they need to realize now that they CAN win games and carry the momentium through the rest of the year.

Madison Central won't make the playoffs if they don't shore up their defense. They have played horrible the past two games. Bad schemes, bad tackling, no heart.

Another fact, Central is terrible in close games the past few years:

2004 vs. Scott County, Regional Championship....lost 45-41

2005 vs. Dunbar, lost 28-19. Was 21-19 When MC couldn't convert inside the 10 with one minute to go.

2005 vs. North Laurel, lost 26-23 in OT

2005 vs. Scott County, 1st round, lost 24-22

2006 vs. Tates Creek, lost 33-31 in 2OT

2006 vs. Montgomery County lost 26-21

Basically, the only games they have gotten beat badly the past 3 years was Dunbar in 2003 and Highlands in 2005. If the Indians are in a close game, their defense can't tackle, their offense panics. I don't like the fact that when it gets close, the Indians choke.

Good job, Montgomery.

I'm starting to see the writing on the wall. That coach up there is going to turn this program around all he has to do now is get the kids out that should be palying that aren't.

thats a great point and there are alot of kids that are great football players that are not playing, especially the sophomores. they have 9 sophomores only 2 start and 3 rotate in. 3 sophomores that lettered last year as freshman are not playing also 4 or 5 Jr. that lettered last year are not playing. The team only has about 30 players which is nowhere close to enough. Most of the players mentioned above will play next year but not playing that year hurts them.
