Wow. Congrats to the Indians!

Coach Gooch is just in his 2nd year, and this makes the district race wide open this season. What an upset!

You are so right. :thumb:

Was Madison Central overrated or is Montgomery better then their record indicates?

Montgomery County is better than their record indicates. Madison Central is a very talented but young team.

Sounds like an interesting season in AAAA Region 4, District 8!!

Madison Central looked pathetic tonight. Their defense is a joke. All this hype about top 5 this and top 10 that....is a joke. I thought they looked good against West Jessamine and Dunbar, two teams that hadn't won a game going into tonight. Tates Creek ran right over them, Montgomery just used their blueprint to win.

Give Montgomery credit, they are big and have some good skill kids. They are not the Montgomery of the past couple of years, but Madison Central has dominated this district the past 4 years and still should. It makes you sick watching when a team runs two plays...an outside speed option and a rollout and goes up and down the field on you. Central's offense didn't look that bad, it is just sad that everytime they don't score they get chewed out because the coaches know the defense can't stop anyone. If Central's coaches don't get things together then they are really going to struggle against South Laurel, GRC, Lincoln, and Highlands (would have been a 70-0 type game if they'd played tonight).

Has Montgomery County improved that much since the first couple of games?!

BTW, North beat South tonight at South 36-15 and North beat Madison Central last season in a HUGE upset.

Congrats to Montgomery County on a huge district win! Johndon central fans remember these district foes, and we'll see Montgomery in 5A district play next year.

Montgomery showed improvement last season, and everyone knew they were going to be even better this season. However, I thought they were 1-2 seasons away from competing for the playoffs. I stand corrected. They did not win a district game last season, and have opened this season by upsetting the defending district standard bearer. Wow!

Right now, as the district stands:

North Laurel 1-0 (no playoffs 2005)

Montgomery 1-0 (no playoffs 2005)

Lincoln Co 1-0 (no playoffs 2005)

GRC 0-0 (#3 in district in 2005)

Madison Central 0-1 (District champ 2005)

Whitley County 0-1 (#4 in district made playoffs 2005)

South Laurel 0-1 (#2 in district, defeated Lafayette in 1st rd 2005)

GRC 0-0 (#3 in district in 2005)

The district is flipped upside down thru the first week from where they were last season. This will be an even wilder season than I thought!

This district really is wide open.

Madison Central was expected to win it and gets beat by a team that has won 3 games in 3 years.

South Laurel had a really good win last week over Southwestern and gets beat by North Laurel tonight.

GRC didn't dominate Garrard like most thought they would tonight.

I have to say that Lincoln is impressing a lot of people and may be the favorite right now.
