Dixie 35 Scott 0

The officiating was pretty bad as Dixie was getting all the calls (no calls) in this game. However, they wouldn't have effected the outcome. Dixie still isn't ready to compete for the 4A crown. The offense and defense looked much better, but nowhere near it needs to be. However, they are progressing, which is great to see. The defense was constantly in the backfield getting pressure all night. It was nice to see a defensive tackle (75) get a pick and run it in for a score. I like the swith to Neugent and

Brandon at the outside linebacker spots. Not sure I like Molony at safety as he isn't that physical on defense, and he's small. Offensively, they were able to run the ball for a change. The offensive line held blocks a lot longer, and Day at fullback helped lead the way for Lucas, Malony, and Phillips. I really liked the rotation of backs, and I like seeing Lucas getting touches. Bricking did a good job of going through his progressions in the second half as he wasn't staring at 1 receiver. However, his accuracy is still way off.

Scott played hard the whole game, but they lost the battle in the trenches and that was the difference in this game. The qb took hit after hit, but he kept getting back up. He's a tough kid.

The stadium was very nice. It looks much better inside than from the outside. The visiting side was actually much bigger than I thought. Once the whole thing is done, it will be a top notch facility. My only concern with the field is the lighting. The end zone at the Dixie Highway end looked dark IMO.

You summed it up completely. Next week's game vs. SK will be a battle. Dixie has alot of work still to do with personnel changes, but Spritzky seems to get it figured out eventually. 4A will be interesting!

You know I love ya DC. It does seem to result in a whole lot more running around. I'm just glad I knew I could call on a solid replacement... ;)

Saw ya on the sidelines tonight but with the enormous digs Dixie has now, it seems to have lost a little of its fan closeness. I kind of felt disconnected from the other Dixie fans since we are spread out much more now. I couldn't get to you do get my hug! Glad to hear you have a new job even though I heard it's costing your replacement many vacation hours to try to replace you, (which is not possible). No. Ky. high school football fans need to hear from you! You are the authority!

Congrats to Dixie on the win. The new stadium was awesome. The Dixie D was dominant, especially their line. The Dixie O looked a little shakier than in years past.

The officiating was horrible. The previous posts were correct in that it would not have affected the outcome. The Eagles also had some crucial calls go against them as well.

Good luck Dixie! Keep fighting Eagles. There is alot of football left to be played!!!

Dixie's defense played well. Dixie's offense did not. Dixie's passing game in particular needs work. Bricking was not very accurate with his passes and he still needs to improve in making his reads. He threw into double coverage numerous times. Also, the receivers need to improve in running their routes. Also, the offense had too many penalties. The score could have been much worse if Dixie would have just eliminated penaties. Dixie must have had 5 or 6 holding penalties including one that called back a 50+ yard TD run by Moloney.

As far as the officiating, I thought they almost always made the right call although they sometimes took some time to get to it. I thought all but one of the holding calls was a good call. All the offsides I thought were correct. Putting the ball on the 20 yard line, when Moloney muffed the punt and the ball went into the endzone was the right call even though Moloney tried to take the ball out and was tackled at the 1 yard line. I thought that awarding the ball to Dixie at midfield after Scott recovered the punt after a Dixie player touched the ball was the correct call because the Scott player interfered with the Dixie's player's opportunity to catch the punt.

He was blocked into the guy. But it dont matter now, but Dixie is a tough team and still be one of the top teams in NKY 4a.

What year is he? He seemed to throw a nice ball when he was able to set and throw. I thought they would take advantage of 87's height compared to Dixie's DBs, but they really didn't. A lot of WR screens, and not a whole lot down the field. The again, he really didn't have time to throw down the field.

As for the lights, they just need to angle some of them a little better on that end.

He is a Junior.

I thought this was surprising:

First score in the new stadium was by an offensive lineman. He recovered a fumble in the endzone.

The second score in the new stadium was by a defensive lineman. He intercepted a pass and returned it for a TD.

The third score was by a defensive lineman. He tackled the Scott RB in the endzone for a safety.

Wow your right never thought about that they need to put that in the books and those players have something to tell thier kids and grandkids when they grow up.:thumb:

Correct. That was an obvious block in the back that was not called against Dixie. However, I didn't think a Dixie player ever touched the ball. I don't think Maloney ever got a hand on the ball. I'd like to see a replay of that.

I heard by several close to the play that it touched his foot. I wasn't close enough to see it. It will be broadcast on cable this week. Maybe they'll have a better view of it.

Nice win for the red Colonels in their opening week at the new stadium. I still can't believe some were picking Scott in this game. All in all, nice game by both teams, but Dixie better get ready for the next couple weeks if they want to turn their season around.

Was this Dixie's first win this year? if so... Congrats Colonels...keep working hard in 4A.

I agree with yours and Nees assesments totally. And I agree that the kid got pushed into Maloney and should not have been called for a penalty on the punt return. But it was a live ball and Scott should have gotten it as it clearly made contact with a Dixie player in my eyes. That said, the game was defensively what I knew we would get. A Dave Sorrell defense that attacks and puts presure on the passing game. Contains the run. Offensively I was very dissapointed. We did run the ball well at times. Marty did well. But it was against Scotts defensive front and we also did strugle at times. Unacceptable. The passing game, as noted, was lacking fluidity. Passes at the feet. Over thrown and behind. Telegraphed sit routes. A good D will eat us up. joey was locking on ONE reciever from the snap and the Scott DB's were Teeing off. Thank god the passes weren't accurate or we would have had more picks. I liked Day in the backfield. He threw some nice blocks. Our TB's are not powerful enough. Marty seemed to be able to break away for a little extra yardage, the others just went down on first contact most times. Lucas is very shifty and needs to play a little more IMO, but I'm not sure how well he practices. The recievers need to be crisper on their routes. It seemed Joe wasn't sure where they would be all the time. He should be able to know where they will be so he can read the defense and then throw to the open spot instead of searching for his reciever.

I'm sorry if I didn't see many of you. I volunteered myself in the concession stand as they needed help just before halftime and didn't come out untill the end of the third.

Speaking of concession stand, that has got to be one of the best in NKY. Chicken fingers, fries, corn on the cob, baked potatoes, etc. I couldn't believe my eyes at the different kinds of food I saw.

They need to add a few drink kiosk's in the area. It would help with the flow. It was nuts in there. They need an additional concession stand on the Home side IMO. Don't forget the FUNNEL CAKES, which where excellent BTW. :D
