January 24, 20179 yr Obama quietly gave $221 million to Palestinians just hours before Trump’s inauguration – TheBlaze Quietly and only hours before Trump was sworn in. $221 million , money that was put on hold by congress. Is given to Palestinians anyway behind their back. http://bluegrasspreps.com/kentucky-national-politics/221-000-00-342927.html
January 24, 20179 yr I have a problem sending $221 million to Palestinians for any reason. There really isn't a reason anyone can give me to send them money. If Republicans supported this I'm angry with them as well.
January 25, 20179 yr Palistine isn't even a country nor a government. So who actually gets the check, what do they intend to do with their $220 million handout from the U.S.A.? This is absurd on so many levels it's unexplainable.
January 25, 20179 yr I would like to see a link with this vote by Congress to send this money. Anyone? Also would love to see the yes voters.

That was a Republican majority in both houses right?
January 25, 20179 yr I already read this article. I am going to research this more and see if I can find the actual vote with names. These people need gone that voted for this crap.
January 25, 20179 yr I already read this article. I am going to research this more and see if I can find the actual vote with names. These people need gone that voted for this crap. Let start with the ones with R beside their names who act like they don't support it. :lol2: Rubio probably wasn't there, so he's in the clear.
January 25, 20179 yr Why Obama quietly sent Palestine $221 million during his last hours in office - Business Insider Here is a interesting read. It appears this was part of something that was much bigger. Still researching. From the article: The $221 million comes from federal aid the US provides to the West Bank and Gaza, which totaled around $355 million for 2015. The sum released by Obama during his last hours in office had been held up by a bipartisan group of congresspeople, including both Ed Royce and Kate Granger.
January 25, 20179 yr Surprise: In Final Hours in Power, Obama Sent $221 Million to the Palestinians - Guy Benson Officials say the Obama administration in its waning hours defied Republican opposition and quietly released $221 million to the Palestinian Authority that GOP members of Congress had been blocking. A State Department official and several congressional aides said the outgoing administration formally notified Congress it would spend the money Friday morning. The official said former Secretary of State John Kerry had informed some lawmakers of the move shortly before he left the State Department for the last time Thursday. The aides said written notification dated Jan. 20 was sent to Congress just hours before Donald Trump took the oath of office. In addition to the $221 million for the Palestinians, the Obama administration also told Congress on Friday it was going ahead with the release of another $6 million in foreign affairs spending, including $4 million for climate change programs and $1.25 million for U.N. organizations, the congressional aides said. The aides and the State Department official weren't authorized to speak publicly on the matter and demanded anonymity. Congress had initially approved the Palestinian funding in budget years 2015 and 2016, but at least two GOP lawmakers — Ed Royce of California, the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and Kay Granger of Texas, who sits on the House Appropriations Committee — had placed holds on it over moves the Palestinian Authority had taken to seek membership in international organizations. Congressional holds are generally respected by the executive branch but are not legally binding after funds have been allocated.
January 25, 20179 yr This appears to be a parting shot at Israel by Obama. Why am I not surprised. Well Israel took theirs as well. Authorized a whole bunch of new settlements in defiance of UN condemnation (which Obama stood back from and declined to veto) knowing darn well that that the Council has no teeth with America back ready to veto any such condemnation.
January 25, 20179 yr I really question where Obamas heart lies with moves like this. Good thing is this. Gone.
January 25, 20179 yr I believe it has been blocked now by the State Department State Department Blocks Transfer of Funds to Palestinian Authority | CBN.com JERUSALEM, Israel – In a stunning reversal, the U.S. State Department froze $221 million designated by former President Barack Obama to the Palestinian Authority on his last full day in office. The funds had previously been budgeted to the Palestinian Authority but blocked by Congress. Obama released the funds just hours before Trump was sworn-in as president. Officials at the State Department decided to freeze the transfer until the appointment of former Secretary of State John Kerry's replacement. Trump's nomination, Exxon CEO Ray Tillerson, generated some controversy because of his business dealings with countries considered human rights violators and concern that he might show favoritism to his Russian contacts. On Monday, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee endorsed his nomination, albeit split along party lines, paving the way for confirmation by the full Senate. The 11-10 vote came after Sens. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., and John McCain, R-Ariz., decided to back the former Exxon Mobil Corp. chairman's nomination. During the confirmation hearings, Rubio was reportedly the most vocal of the three senators. Representatives Ed Royce, R-Calif., who chairs the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and Kay Granger, R-Texas, a member of the House Appropriations Committee, blocked the funding packages in 2015 and 2016 in response to the P.A.'s efforts to join international organizations. Granger said she'd "worked to make sure that no American taxpayer dollars would fund the Palestinian Authority unless very strict conditions were met," israel national news reported on its website, Arutz Sheva. "While none of these funds will go the Palestinian Authority because of those conditions, they will go to programs in the Palestinian territories that were still under review by Congress," Granger said, adding "The Obama administration's decision to release these funds was inappropriate."
