William Brown back at Jeffersontown from 22ft Academy and is eligible

Featured Replies

Was at the Jeffersontown vs Doss game and William Brown was dressed and able to play after leaving for 22ft Academy before season started

Never understood why he went there in the first place. If you aren't a starter at JTown, how are you going to play at a prep school.

Didn't know they had so many teams I was thinking they would make him class of 2018 but I guess not he was on the high school B team from what I was told

So how did he get around the transfer rule?

Went back to his home school I believe Cooper home school was Fern Creek that's why he is having such a hard time

But he played varsity at another school. I assume his family didn't move so he didn't get that waiver.

I tend to agree with Clyde, I do not think home school has anything to do with gaining eligibility after going to an out of state prep school. The rule is one year and that is why Trace Young was able to come back sooner than Cooper because he stopped playing at Huntington Prep mid year last season. I have no idea if or how this young man is eligible, but if he is and Cooper is not it makes no sense on the surface.

If this is in fact accurate, I hope Cooper adds punitive damages to his case against KHSAA as it appears to be applying the rule selectively. Let them all play regardless of the caliber of player. Perhaps there is a clear cut difference in these situations, but I do not think the "home school" issue is the smoking gun.

If he left the state, I don't think it will matter. He will still be eligible at his "home" school. Had he played for a private school in Ky, it would be different.

did the kid play a game for 22foot?

I heard he was on the high school B team whatever that means but I'm assuming he did

If he didn't play varsity then he would be eligible on the move back.

But what constitutes "varsity" at a basketball academy that is not a school? I am not sure that the current KHSAA rules are easily applied to such situations.

I would think going to a prep school and living there would be a change of address.

Another case of a kid getting jerked around by adults, and given bad information. This AAU culture of "I'm not happy at school A, I'm going to school B, and then when I don't get my way there, I'll look for school C or go back to school A." Someone try teaching these kids how to be part of a team, and quit trick or treating to see if they can be THE GUY somewhere else. It's getting old seeing these stories all the time now.

Is that 11 Foot Academy?
