This AAU culture of "I'm not happy at school A, I'm going to school B, and then when I don't get my way there, I'll look for school C or go back to school A." Someone try teaching these kids how to be part of a team, and quit trick or treating to see if they can be THE GUY somewhere else. It's getting old seeing these stories all the time now.

 

Couldn't agree more. Bottom line....it hurts the kids in the long run. Kids also need to learn to work through adversity.

If he left the state, I don't think it will matter. He will still be eligible at his "home" school. Had he played for a private school in Ky, it would be different.

I can tell you from experience what we were told at our school (granted it was a few years ago). Parents never moved but kid enrolled at an out of state school. Halfway through the season he came back and was automatically eligible. The KHSAA said he had to be eligible somewhere. Since his parents never moved, he was eligible at his "home" school.

There is the possibility of a waiver for a kid who went to a non-member school IF the school is in KY. Isn't 22 Ft now in South Carolina? That wouldn't meet the requirements per the KHSAA wording.

Like I said, we were simply told he had to be eligible somewhere. They said he should not have been allowed to play at an out of state school without his parents moving or change of custody. But, since his parents still had the same address, that was his "home" school.

That does not seem to be the rule the KHSAA applied with regard to De'Von Cooper, who returned to Kentucky to live in the same home with his Mother and attend the same school he attended his freshman and sophomore years, and yet was declared ineligible.

Coopers home school is fern creek with the address that his mom never moved from he was able to attend his high school by choice as a freshmen and sophomore but once he left and came back he has to attend his home school of the address he lives which is fern creek not waggener
