Would this be an impermissible Trump benefit?

Featured Replies

We know that Trump has "written" several books. Would it be an illegal gain to him if a foreign country or US corporation suddenly bought thousands of dollars of his books after he is inaugurated?

This is a very real possibility. I'm not talking about individual book sales but thousands of dollars purchased by one group, to possibly curry favor of the new president or add some coin to his pocket.

No, as I have stated before, how can we possibly monitor all he owns? We need to let him worry about running the country, not defending his businesses. Unless it is just flat out blatant in your face see, I am above the law stuff.

To me this is about as useless as the GOP monitoring HRC's emails. Waste of time.

I think the title is misleading.

Better?

Better?

Doesn't the work "illegal" more than imply criminal behavior?

You have been consistent with this thought, while others obsessed over how much profit there was in the mints left on the pillows by the turn down service.

Yep, I have plenty of things that I am concerned about, as you know. This just not a biggie to me. You will get many more favors from DJT by telling him how awesome he is. More money is just not that big a thing anymore to him I believe, important, but nothing like being the greatest President of all time. He will declare that in 4 or 8 years. He is pretty predictable on that front.

Impermissible, better?

I think that is worse.

How about controversial?

I think it's a very interesting question and probably isn't anything different than the hotel issue.

I agree and it is not my attention to derail this thread.

Didn't president Obama write books ? Was there a scandal surronding that ? I'm confused ?

Why would this be a big deal? Like LB said, Obama wrote 2 books pre-Presidency that grossed almost $6M so far. Was anybody worried about this when he became President?
