Hawkins commited to D2 Union University in Tennessee.

I watched them at AIT he didn't play point in those games at least not much. Which may have been why they went 1-2 in it

JC is not the issue, you see him play AAU? IMO he is held hostage in the system. It happens and it happens in other places as well. Truly expect him to have a great 4 years in college. If he is guilty of anything at times he is not selfish enough. He can delivery the dime and can shoot.

Stating the obvious but this is an absolutely horrible L for SK. I know W-town is scrappy and very well coached but you have at least two kids on SK who will be playing D2 ball and you lose to a school that only made the semi's of the 8th Regional All A.

 

This program has had lots of talent and not won a regional title in over 20 years. 1995 maybe? Anyone know how long Coach Steiner has been there?

SK's best basketball players are walking the halls and not in the gym. What does that say about the state of affairs within the basketball program?

JC is a great player, but he is not a point guard. Would be better utilized at the 2 or 3. He is not that physical of a player. They need to run sets with screens to pop him open for jump shots. I agree that the systems run by some of these high school coaches can be a detriment to the player. Their head coach has had many years to figure it out but still doesn't get it.

The "tall players belong in the post" argument is lazy. Hawkins is a terrific player and best serves his team with the ball in his hands, regardless of his position on the floor.

 

Please understand I'm not making a comparison when I ask, can you imagine where Kevin Durant would be if his HS coach had buried him in the post?

 

We have got to get past this issue in the state. We are hindering our kids with this notion that tall belongs in the post. 6'5 and 6'6 is not tall. If you can shoot and handle the ball........well then play basketball

SK has done less with more than any school in the 8th ever since they joined. A school of their size should be right there knocking on the door every year along with the Oldham schools.
