How does the pay compare at those two? On the face of it I would say a college job is better than a high school job. I am having a hard time seeing how it could be considered a step down -- a lateral move at worst IMO.

Hard to say. Never know about salary, benefits, stepping stone position. Certainly has been impressive for what he has done with the Lancers, but he might be one of those guys that likes another challenge.

 

I don't know if he taught a full schedule at LaSalle either. He may want to just coach. I can see it.

Right and I am pretty sure TMC wanted him out (feel free to disagree) so maybe this is an ego thing.

Thanks for posting the link but the get out of town mantra still has momentum in my mind.

Well, I didn't remember all of that until now. Still think he sees it as move up.

For what it's worth, BW was a D-III powerhouse in the late 70's early 80's. (Got a lot of D-I transfers from Ohio kids who weren't going to play where they signed-kind of like Mount Union when they began to win). Jim Tressel's father, Lee was Head Coach and I think Jim started there. It is in a community right outside of Cleveland, so a potential hot bed of recruiting, esp for the D-III level, and with a tradition to revitalize...maybe not such a bad move. A lot of the smaller schools also provide a tuition deal which can mean a lot to a family. The Browns trained there, too. I don't know Coach Hilvert, but when I think of BW, it should be a nice job.

I definitely agree it is a very nice job, I suppose I am partial to Powerhouse High School Programs.
