Providing the same security in the baggage claim area's as there is in the main terminal's would be the first step.

 

You know whats funny, when we came back from Naples in December and landed at Bluegrass Airport it was around 1030pm at night, and there was not one single person from the Airport or security anywhere to be found. Didnt dawn on me then but yeah no security in the baggage area is a big issue.

I guess I disagree with the no ammo thing. Last time I went on a hunting trip in Minnesota (been years) I checked my guns and all my ammo. Never thought twice about it. We flew from MSP on a little puddle jumper to the Hunting area so had I not had ammo with me, not sure what I would have done.

 

Sounds like it would be a good business opportunity for someone to open up an gun/ammo store in that area.

First off I hope you enjoyed your trip to Naples, I used to spend a couple weeks a year there when I was growing up, love that place. But yeah, it makes no sense to have nearly zero security in the baggage claim area's considering the amount of security that you see throughout the rest of the airport.

But why, especially after this incident where this is exactly how this crime was committed, continue to allow that? It's beyond irresponsible IMO.

 

If I fly into Chicago or any city for that matter, I don't want to have to go somewhere to purchase ammo, I want to be protected as soon as I can legally load my weapon.

My thoughts as well. At $30 for a box of 50 she would be paying well over $1000 a year if she has to buy it 40 times a year. But as long as it makes everyone else feel better.....

Restricting something because it MIGHT stop something (most likely would not) is a very dangerous precedent to go on that could easily lead to a slippery slope. Quadrupling taxes on alcohol MIGHT dissuade someone from drinking so much to get intoxicated and kill someone behind the wheel.

 

I went to Vegas once and we stayed off strip because we were cheap, not as safe as the strip where there are plenty of people and police. The two guys I was with checked their pistols and two loaded magazines seperate from the pistols (I didn't own a gun then). It was really no big deal. The same as if someone walked in with a gun. If they were not allowed to bring rounds, no clue where to buy in Vegas, shouldn't have to fetch a cab just to buy some. I think many here are thinking with emotions instead of logic.

Why are you guys treating the non-secure portions of airports like their Fort Knox? What makes them any different than any other place?

But with just reasonable laws, rules, whatever, THIS incident probably.would not have happened. Could have but probably would not have. That is enough for me. Why make it easy? There is my reason, you will not like it and we will disagree, but that is enough of a reason for me.
