January 3, 20179 yr Why the sudden spike in triple doubles? I took a look at 2009's triple double numbers and LeBron James led the way with 4, Rondo and Kidd had 2. In 2010 LeBron had 4, Russ and Iggy with 3, etc. You get the picture. Russ now gets 4 in a week. Is it just having transcendent players like Harden and Russ? Has the game evolved? Is the triple double becoming too easy to attain, relatively speaking?
January 3, 20179 yr I'd be curious to see Harden's assists to see how many were on 3 pt goals. My first thought was something to do with this. Better understanding of analytics and spacing creating better opportunities for 3s from 3 point specialist probably help the assist numbers. D'Antoni offense is clearly making a big difference for Harden as well. This offense is even better than his time with the Suns. In the case of Westbrook I think it's just a transcendent player.

January 3, 20179 yr Hadn't thought about the transition to a 3pt-centric NBA, but it makes sense. Long shots mean longs rebounds, which means a guard could conceivably lead his team in rebounding. Along with HT's explanation, I think we've cracked this thing.

They should both be able to average double digit assists as elite NBA PGs. For them to rebound the way they do is the key for them when getting triple doubles and the harder statistic for them to accomplish. Their triple doubles are a testament to their ability, athleticism and hustle. They are both a lot of fun to watch. As is Lebron. They all three truly dominate the game and their team's success is largely dependent on them performing like this night in and night out. It's hard to get triple doubles on NBA 2K on the easy level and these cats are doing it in real life. Unreal. 53, 16 and 17. :lol2: :lol2:
