December 26, 20169 yr Chuck Schumer ? He's Jewish. Would I expect a different sentiment from him on this issue?
December 26, 20169 yr Author I have. This nation stopped it, this nation carved out a piece of land in the ME, and this nation has maintained the sovereignty of Israel since that time period. Any other reason to bring it up? Because some posters in this thread have lost sight on why we defend Israel. Their entire people were threatened with extinction. There are many countries in this world who would still like to do so. It is why one of the highest priorities is to not allow those countries to gain a moral victory.
December 26, 20169 yr Author He's Jewish. Would I expect a different sentiment from him on this issue? So you admit its not only right wingers thanks for admitting you were wrong.
December 26, 20169 yr Israel has disregarded the international organization that created it's modern state for decades maybe it's time they start recognizing that. Let's be honest people if any other nation not named Russia acted this way the US Military would be headed their way.
December 26, 20169 yr Author This thread disappoints you? Pure comedy. :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: Yep. It should be bipartisan to call this what it is. To make a major change in foreign policy in your last month is a joke.
December 26, 20169 yr Screw historical stance if it sucks. Slavery was historical stance for a long time. Israel is our friend only as long as we keep doing everything they want us to. I'm with the Purple One on this.

December 26, 20169 yr Author Screw historical stance if it sucks. Slavery was historical stance for a long time. Israel is our friend only as long as we keep doing everything they want us to. I'm with the Purple One on this. You compared protecting a people who were threatened with extinction , to slavery ? Nice to see where the mindset is. I'm also glad to see everyone put their cards on the table. Many of you don't think protecting Israel is important. It used to be one of the most bipartisan topics in this country. But anti semitic rhetoric has slipped into the left mind set. It is good to know where everyone stands , it shows a lack of understanding of global strategy but it's good to know none the less.
December 26, 20169 yr Because the artical you posted is false. While the resolution does not pose sanctions , it does change international law. Technically could allow prosecution in international court in Europe. Please continue your defense. Deep down if you were the fair poster you claim to be you would just admit not only does this resolution go against US historical stance on Israel but this adminstrations stance in 2011. You would admit it was a cowardly move to do in your last month in office. But you won't do that. You will find articles from the far left trying to compare it to other events. The problem is there is no comparison to this level. Interesting that I first said in this thread that I'm not well-versed on the Israeli issue and NOW I'm posting a "defense." Is that because I asked questions that seemed to go against what you are saying? I'm literally asking you to educate us(or just me). There is no "defense." I'm struggling to see the nuance between previous Presidents not using their veto power and this one. Why is it NOW the worst thing ever? Why is it now "historical (sic)?" I can't find anything saying this is anything other than "symbolic." You have something showing us that it truly threatens Israel in international courts other than "technically?" Also, again, how does this impact the US and/or Israel in regards to terrorism as that seems to be a big point you've made? Just looking for intelligent discussion instead of general statements.
December 26, 20169 yr So you admit its not only right wingers thanks for admitting you were wrong. Sure. Right wing BGP'ers and Jews probably disagree with me and the Purple guy on this. Religion should never dictate policy.

I just don't think we should rubber stamp our support for anything Israel wants or does just because it's historical or because you think the mythical Jesus would want us to.

Also, again, how does this impact the US and/or Israel in regards to terrorism as that seems to be a big point you've made? Just looking for intelligent discussion instead of general statements. First it is just funny to me when you claim to just have "questions" when it is something to make someone on the left look bad. I've been waiting for weeks to see if you would have a similar dialogue with the president elect. It doesn't seem to take place. Secondly as I've stated while this resoultion does not come with sanctions , it does change international law on the settlements. Condemning citizens who had been in that region for decades. It did not just condemn new settlements. On your next point what veto power do you speak of that wasn't used on a comparable bill. Are you repeating a line from an article or can you state a credible specific resolution that had similar global impact that the United States has not vetoed? Finally on terrorism you don't see how condemning Israel in the UN gives credence and power to those who want to destroy Israel. The very people who do not believe they have a right to exist ? You gave them power and credibility to strike on future Israeli movements.
December 26, 20169 yr Author Sure. Right wing BGP'ers and Jews probably disagree with me and the Purple guy on this. Religion should never dictate policy. Religion has nothing to do with it for me. It has to do with an entire people who were attempted to become extinct and who a majority of the countries who surrond them want to follow through with the act of extinction. It has to do with them being one of our strongest allies and only true free country in that reigion.
December 26, 20169 yr Yep. It should be bipartisan to call this what it is. To make a major change in foreign policy in your last month is a joke.:lol2: :lol2: Bipartisan. :lol2: :lol2:

Who is supporting rubber stamping anything ? There is a difference between talking and negoiating than allowing anti semetic countries to pass a resolution against one of our strongest allies. You are talking about something completely different.
