Kiffin still carries some significant baggage and I guess Houston wasn't convinced that he would stick around long enough or that his past wouldn't come into play.

Good for Houston for going outside the box. If Houston would've hired Kiffin of Miles they would have been there for a year then bolted to the next big job. At least Major will be there for 3 years.

I have been a Major Applewhite fan since the Chris Simms debacle. Dude came to the rescue of Texas in the Big 12 Title game. He will do a fantastic job. Lane Kiffin would have been a dumpster fire.

Texas didn't deserve Applewhite. That business infuriated me when it happened. Applewhite was a gamer and a winner, pure and simple. Chris had a famous (and infinitely more talented) dad.
