Not a shipping expert, but this seems crazy

I spent some time with UPS and to be honest it's somewhat normal for that to happen @kinglouie. I will say though, that generally when your package gets to a facility as close as you are, it generally hits a truck that delivers it to the USPS and lets them handle it from that point on. For instance, with UPS here in Ashland, once a package for Surepost hits the facility, it leaves the facility in route to the local post offices via UPS trucks. If you don't have a FedEx or UPS hub near you though, I could see that being the issue.

Yeah we have both relatively close. Just seems bad economics from a shipping perspective. When I buy things I never know who they use for shipping, and I guess I really dont care as long as I get my item. But with all the advancements in technology, GPS, mapping software, BI, etc seems that there would be logistics software which would eliminate the non sensical stuff

So postal workers aren't real professionals?

I didn't say that.

I agree, it should be more simple and logistical than it ends with some packages. I will say that the SurePost and SmartPost items get shuffled around a lot though, particularly this time of year. As long as it's still on track to make to you by the expected delivery date, I wouldn't worry too much about where it's going prior to making it to you. Christmas is a rough season for UPS and FedEx in general, but with helping bail out the USPS by handling their packages for them to help keep them in business, it has thrown another wrench into the cogs. In general though, once the package makes it close to you, it's handed over to USPS.

As someone who ships 1,000+ packages a day, you get what you pay for most of the time in these situations.

I didn't say that.

I know. There was a smilie after my comment that didn't work. I was just messing with you.

Of course they are, I use the Post Office all the time and they are fantastic and very skilled.

I had a package that had the right address and wrong zip code. It went from Atlanta to either Lexington or Louisville and back to Atlanta 6 times before they caught on. Took 18 days to get from Miami,FL to Harrodsburg. It made it to Minnesota once during the trip.

If it has a scan code on it, a lot of times they don't even look at the address. They just scan it and send it on until someone notices and changes it.

FedEx is horrendous. Never, ever, under any circumstances use them.

I bought something on ebay and had it shipped to my house. Before it was shipped, i had my mail forwarded. Well, apparently they will not forward packages. That package took 2.5 months to get to me must have put 3,000 miles on it as it was shipped in a circle for RI to Ky to MI and back many times. I could see the tracking on it and we even called the post office to hold it but there would be no tracking for two weeks and then the next day, all the locations would be put in for the previous week. Craziest package I have ever tracked.

FedEx is horrendous. Never, ever, under any circumstances use them.

Sorry. I can only go off my experiences with them, and every single time it's terrible.

When using UPS or USPS, we've almost never had a problem, and the rare occasions that we have, they've been incredibly helpful resolving the issue quickly and effectively.

FedEx has never done a thing to solve the issues we've encountered with them.
