I just got back from the game, and can't believe there's not a thread started on this one yet. The Tomcats looked good on their opening drive as they march down the field in about 7-8 plays and scored on a Matt Thomas touchdown run to go up 7-0. The Cats had a chance to go up 14-0, but had a TD run of 58 yards by Thomas called back because of holding. The Cats seemed to stall after that 1st drive, and the Senators scored in the 2nd quarter, and the Cats led 7-6 at the half. Ashland continued to hurt itself with penalties tonight, but they looked much better in the 2nd half as Thomas continued to impress, this time with a 86 yard TD run on the Tomcats 2nd play of the half. Ashland also scored on a TD pass to Kevin Burns, and Thomas also added an interception return of 85 yards. The Tomcats offensive line continued to improve and impress as a group. A very nice road victory for the Tomcats and another great game by Ashland's Matt Thomas. It was nice to meet Kick at the game tonight. :thumb: :thumb:

Congrats to the Tomcats. :thumb:

I must add that the Portsmouth West P.A. man kept the Ashland crowd entertained for most of the game.

Nice win Tomcats...Congrats.

Entertained in a good way, or bad?

Just in a funny way. He really struggled with some of the Ashland player's names.

Do they have many difficult names? Perhaps a certain PA announcer I know will have to scout their roster before they come to Johnson County to prevent errors.

No, there are really no hard names. He just seemed to struggle all night. These are some of the names he really struggled with.

Darrell Mahan, Fields Davis, Matt Bartrum. He called Matt Thomas, Matt Davis several times. You just had to be there.

Now to whom could you possibly be refering?

There's this guy...ya know...this friend of mine...

But enough about that. Congrats Ashland. We'll be waiting for ya' at Eagle Field. Looks like we'll need to pack a lunch for that one.

Oh...Okay...I thought you were talking about someone else...lol

Another great win for the Tomcats. The defense really came to play tonight! Matt Bartram, Fields Davis and Chris Hall were making plays all over the field. Matt Thomas again was on fire and finished with 175 yards and 3 TD's. He had TD runs of 13, 84, and 20 yards to go along with his 80 yard INT return. Its a shame his 60 yard TD run was called back. Great game Tomcats!

I agree. I don't know how many times I hard Matt Bartram's name called tonight. He was all over the place, and to think that is mom told me about 15-16 years ago that she would never let her little boy play football. Good thing Matt's dad is the boss. :D

I hope that the last two weeks are a sign that Matt Thomas is fulfilling his potential. If so, it could be a long season- meaning a long trip into the playoffs- for Ashland. Matt at his best, more than any other player in this area, can make a good team an outstanding team.
