Says they will add 10,000 jobs. Are we sure that the issue isn't regulations and taxes rather than wages and benefits?

I definitely agree with Republicans that our corporate taxation is a mess. We probably disagree on how to fix it, but it needs a lot o work. I know @doomer and I have talked multiple times on this site about how the tax code is upside down on this.

 

Regulations are trickier. Again we probably need some simplification, but we may disagree on which ones.

 

But in the end, I agree with the Chamber of Commerce folks on one thing: It's too expensive to conduct business in this country right now.

Plan to... Would like to... Looking at... Could.... I am totally okay with the CEO of US Steel "speculating" they are looking to bring back as many as 10,000 jobs. Again, this CEO cites regulations and taxes as the issue. This type of speculation by a CEO is far more promising than the haters and cynics "speculating" that there is no chance Trump brings jobs back.

 

Don't get me wrong...I'm ok with it too. But everyone is making this sound like it's a done deal, and is going to happen. It's nowhere close to happening yet.

True, it is not a done deal yet. This is more positive news than we have heard in the last 8 years though.

Additionally, the good news is there is a lot of foreign investment in our country. The bad news is those investors can be quite clever at funneling the income back to the country of ownership and/or Luxembourg or wherever they find the most advantageous tax laws. Thus, the US loses the tax revenue.

Why stop at 8? I'd go back 12 to be honest. But you are right, at least there's hope that maybe things will improve economically.

I don't share it. They're anxious to come back because they see Trump and the cronies he's appointing to the cabinet because of everything they're about to do.

This isn't charity and no one's making America great again. America is being reshaped in the image of the 19th Century: a paradise for super-wealthy capitalists and base wages for everyone else. Obama did little to stop it and Hillary wouldn't have either, but Trump? Look who he's appointing to his cabinet and then tell me who he's looking out for.
