colonel-fan Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 Where has that powerful Newport offense from last year gone?
bbleser Posted September 9, 2006 Author Posted September 9, 2006 They interviewed Newport's coach before the game and they discussed how they were waiting for things to click again like last year.
Qryche11 Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 New set of receivers.... its not as easy as just tossing it over to Thomas or Glenn and saying.... GO !!!!
Mustang Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 Newport seemed to play just well enough to win tonight. Too many mistakes - too many flags! They continuously shot themselves in the foot tonight - but still managed to get the W.
BIGZIG Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 Newport played about as well as Ludlows defense would allow them and the Panther defense played an outstanding game this evening. They were on the field for close to 20 minutes of the 1st half and refused to let Newport get into any type of consistent offensive flow. In the 2nd half it was 2 very evenly matched teams playing very hard and both teams were held scoreless in the 2nd half. The Panthers continued to struggle on offense. The race for the 3rd and 4th playoff spot in Class A is still wide open my friends and don't anyone think any different..Next up for the Panthers is a visit to play the Bellevue Tigers in what should be a very good game.
NHS BIG DADDY Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 Where has that powerful Newport offense from last year gone? That powerful O walked out the doors of NHS with diplomas in May. Thats where it went. Sure miss that O, it was fun to watch. D continues to play great. They are allowing about 7 pts a game right now. Dramatic improvement from last year.
futurecoach Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 Sounds like a good defensive game. I know even though Ludlow loss it seems like the played more like they were capable of, because last weeks loss to Grant County didn't really show the true Ludlow team. This game against Newport was a good tough test to get them ready for a HUGE game against Bellevue next week.. Congrats to Newport on the win and best of luck the rest of the season!

Bluesport Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 Looks like the highly-touted freshman, Arkansas Brewer had his 1st varsity TD.
colonel-fan Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 Guys, the question about Newport's offense was rhetorical. Anyway, from the Cincy Enquirer: Another game, another close call
HHSDawgs1424 Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 Nice win for Newport. They're going to need to get their offense together though if they wanna make any noise in 2A.
NPT Buckeye Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 Guys, the question about Newport's offense was rhetorical. Anyway, from the Cincy Enquirer: Another game, another close call Just want to let you all know, The top right picture in this article is not Jeff Pope, he quit before Brewer got back and Arkansas took over his number. The enquirer is going off a previous roster.
