Plan is to work them back in slowly. Will be nice to get both back to full strength soon since they are 2 starters and will be key players for this year's Holy Cross team.

No doubt. They always play hard and get better over the season. Definitely a contender in the 9th.

Cooper only had 41 FG attempts. Seems low.

Could have been closer than that, intentional foul at the end let the jags have a couple more. Holy cross kept it even in the first quarter only to be down by 11 going into half. Came out of half and got within two then down by 13 and back up to five. This could have been HC's game at any time. Great starter game for both teams imo. Both teams can improve no doubt, but I think HC has alot more room to improve and alot more to prove.....

In case you didn't notice, HC put in the bench when Cooper subbed out at that point in time. And yes Cooper would pull away every time HC would close the gap. But it was HC's undoing to themselves more than what the jags were accomplishing.

Bench clearing happened with 29 seconds to go, and Cooper had already extended what was a 5 point lead with 2 minutes to go to double digits. No need for anyone to make this something it wasn't. Holy Cross gave Cooper more trouble than expected, and while Cooper was in control all night, HC challenged them.

Holy Cross did give Cooper a closer game than I expected, although I never felt they were in a position to actually get the win. They did pull within a couple of possessions on multiple occasions, but each time, Cooper pushed the lead back out to a comfortable margin. I did not see anything that I would say was the Indians undoing more than what the Jags were accomplishing.

 

Both teams were far from the level I would expect them to be come Feb/Mar, which is to be expected.

This clears up your comments.... well... at least for me, it does.

Cooper is going to be really good and will clearly contend for the 9th title like I mentioned in a previous post. Only thing I could see down the road is that they didn't go deep in the bench in the opener but I do not know their bench personnel enough to really comment on that. Just going by what I saw in that game.

 

Holy Cross will be a work in progress especially early in the season. I do like the way the Indians competed in the opener against one of the top teams in the 9th. They are blending in a few guys who haven't had a lot of varsity experience previously with a few kids that have been around. I think HC will be a lot better a month from now.

It's early but I already know who's gonna be my favorite read for the 2016/2017 basketball season. Gotta just love your die hard dedication to The Cross. :thumb:

YES......this was a bad showing by Cooper and yes the Cross was better than expected. What Holy Cross lacks in athletism they make up with their overall b-ball IQ. I guarantee Coach Sully wasnt satisfied by his teams offensive execution and overall effort. Only the first game. The season is just about getting ready for tournament time. Thank goodness you don't have to be peaking after the first game.
