November 29, 20169 yr The animals at the aquarium are perfectly safe as long as the power stays on. When I was evacuated from my hotel in Hawaii due to a Tsunami, their main concern was turning the power off in the elaborate pond, streams they had running thru the hotel. They said the fish were very expensive. They didn't think the surge would make it into the hotel but had to shut down the power just in case.

We will let you know more when we do. As far as I know they are not letting people back in to Gatlinburg yet since the mandatory evacuation. It was an amazing 36 years and we want to thank you all for being a part of it. November 29, 20169 yr Author Here are some of the reports coming from the area: Dollywood - There is no damage, but firefighters are on the property preparing to fight the fire should it come near the park. The cabins and resort have been evacuated. Ripley's Aquarium -- Workers were forced to evacuate and leave the animals behind. There are flames very close to the property. They're currently working to move the animals to another aquarium Arrowmont - According to WVLT, the popular artisan school has been damaged in the fire. Gatlinburg Inn - Rumors to the inn being on fire have not been confirmed. Black Bear Fall - According to several sources, the log cabin resort is gone. We've stayed in the same Chalet 5 or 6 times, I'm pretty sure it is gone. We had a lot of good memories up there, I hate it if it is gone, but it sounds like it is.

November 29, 20169 yr They had to rescue over 50 birds of prey including 10 bald eagles from the sanctuary at Dollywood as they were worried about smoke. I believe they took them to the convention center it said.

We have a team of Marine Biologists and Life Support Experts inside the Aquarium and are happy to report that the animals are safe.
