Trump denounces alt-right movement's racist wing

Featured Replies

Donald Trump flatly disavowed the white supremacist wing of the 'alt-right' movement on Tuesday, telling a room full of New York Times journalists and executives that 'I condemn them. I disavow, and I condemn.'

'It's not a group I want to energize,' Trump said of about 200 white supremacists who held a meeting in Washington over the weekend under the banner of the alt-right.

A new round of questions about Trump's purported relationship with the alt-right emerged after video and photos surfaced showing event participants praising him and also using Nazi terms and salutes.

National Policy Institute director Richard Spencer, the white nationalist who organized the meeting, reportedly told his followers: 'Hail Trump, hail our people, hail victory.'

Trump's transition team had already released a statement on the president-elect's behalf distancing himself from Spencer's group.

'President-elect Trump has continued to denounce racism of any kind and he elected because he will be a leader for every American,' spokesman Bryan Lanza said.

I am surprised since many were calling for him to do this exact thing, that none of you have already posted this. Of course I know already that for many of you even though you asked that he denounce them, now that he has it still won't be enough :lol2:

Well, in another thread, we are told not to trust anything MSM reports, it's all lies. :D. We really don't know what to read or watch or listen to. :lol2:

Good for him if he's serious.

NOW he doesn't want to energize them?

Just keep on believing them all, just like you always have...unless they say something you disagree with :)

It took him long enough. I guess staring down the barrel of the New York Times executive staff and reporters today had him a little shook. Good for him. Like @TheDeuce said in a roundabout way, he doesn't need them anymore so it is easier to disavow them now.

Serious questions. Did anyone think he would defend them once he was asked about them? What if he had defended them? Then what?

In other news, Breitbart wrote their first bad article about Trump today. They are mad he broke his promise to prosecute Hillary.

He has denounced Duke, KKK and white pride groups over and over...does he just need to come out every morning and do it.

Today is a good start for him. We'll just have to agree to disagree on what he has denounced and disavowed. He has denounced it when convenient and he has embraced their support when convenient.

I hope he'll lose their support through his policies and actions, but this was a step in the right direction.

Seriously curious--Where did the term "alt-right" come from? Seems to be the latest talking/rallying point of the left stream media??

I seriously don't recall ever hearing him "embrace" any white supremacist" organizations? Like ALL politicians, they denounce the extremes of their ideology when called out, and let them go when not confronted about them--Obama and all the others did the same; with the exception their every move wasn't stalked by the media looking for every kook who was trying to climb on their bandwagon, like they did in their efforts to discredit Trump?

Denounced all way back in the spring some tried to make the same assumptions...I think "Embrace" is a large overstatement. Never saw him embrace KKK or White power groups.
