November 15, 20169 yr If I ever own a retrieving dog, other than a pointer/setter, it would be a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. Friend of mine had one and had to put it down. Mean. He said after getting it and realizing how aggressive it was he had several people tell him they can be really aggressive against non family members.

Is it common with that breed? I have a friend who has 3 of them, big old babies. Strong as little bulls though

I didn't know much about them and just assumed their temperament was like other retrieving breeds. It could be he just got a bad apple but just something to look into if you consider getting one.

They are definitely more aloof and strong-willed that labs but aggression to the point of putting it down. That's not something I've ever heard of a Chessie.

November 15, 20169 yr We have a F1 Labradoodle. He looks just like a full blooded Lab though. Best dog we ever had and not even close. We love all dogs too.
