What/Who's next for the Democratic Party?

Featured Replies

Hillary for all intents and purposes was the face of the Democratic Party. Her time has now come and gone. Looking ahead to 2020, who is on the Dem's bench that can make a run against Trump, who could be vulnerable if he doesn't follow through on his promises.

Joe Biden appears to be riding off into the sunset. Bernie Sanders will be nearly 80. There's no strong figure in the House or Senate. I can't think of any young rising stars in the party that fit the bill.

And what is the next step for the party as whole?? How do they pick up the pieces of what turned out to be a devastating blow in this election?

Cory Booker

Tim Kaine

Elizabeth Warren

Kamala Harris

Martin O'Malley

Amy Klobuchar

Kristen Gillibrand

I'd put my money on either Booker or Harris.

Mark Cuban

Mark Warner

I highly doubt he'd want to be POTUS, but man that'd be fun. :lol2:

For sure. Him running against Trump would be must see TV.

I'm not so sure about that. Has the ego required. Sees Trump having success. No real baggage yet. Hey, if the "he's a businessman" worked for Trump it'll work for a guy who didn't start off with $1M but sold a business for $1B that he started in college.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Cuban run. My biggest concern with him is he's literally the smartest guy in the room every time and I'm not sure he'd be able to "dumb" stuff down enough for the average voter to understand what he's talking about or proposing.

Absolutely agree on both.

Booker made a name among Democrats at the convention this year. Schumer's going to be the minority leader, but I'll be curious to see if Booker ends up in the Democratic leadership in the Senate. Might be better for him if he doesn't have his name officially connected to the tactics Senate Democrats are about to use for the next two years...

Kamala Harris has an insanely great resume. City prosecutor, District Attorney of San Francisco, Attorney General of California, US Senator... She's going to be a big name going forward.

Mark Warner

Isn't Warner too moderate for the nationwide Democratic party? Maybe the party swings back to the center but till then, Warner may not have any place on the national level.

Possibly. I just think he is one who could appeal to more groups than the current Democratic Leadership.

As a sub-topic, what about the state level now that Stumbo is out?

Matt Jones. Lol
