Several of the names being mentioned in this thread for various positions are very scary to me. Palin in any position is a joke. I know Giuliani will land somewhere and the one that I hope it ends up being is Homeland Security. I am good with Newt Gingrich and Ben Carson. I have a hard time seeing Ted Cruz taking orders from Donald Trump so it will surprise me if he lands in the cabinet anywhere

The Attorney General should not be expected to "take orders" from the president. Cruz would be a perfect fit as Attorney General.

 

Trump needs to restore justice to the Department of Justice and appointing Cruz would demonstrate that competence and character will matter once again in the Executive Branch. Naming Cruz Attorney General or appointing him to the Supreme Court would solidify Trump's support among conservatives.

I can't think of a worse person to put on the Supreme Court than Ted Cruz. I also would imagine he might have difficulty winning support of the Republican controlled senators. See John Boehner's comments upon leaving Congress.

I don't care how he is as an attorney. Ted Cruz's view of the constitution is WAY to extreme. The Supreme Court is supposed to be nonpartisan. Cruz just ran for president on an extreme right wing platform, that should disqualify him right away. I don't care if you put someone on the Supreme Court who agrees with every view I have, I want someone on the Supreme Court who will view each and every case with as little pre conceived biases as possible. You don't want Supreme Court justices that want to be popular politically, but you just said Ted Cruz would be a good SCOTUS nomination. That statement contradicts itself. What is right is to appoint justices that will make decisions on the intent of the authors of the U.S. Constitution, and that includes the authors of each of the amendments thereto. Cruz has experience arguing and winning cases before the Supreme Court, a distinction that few lawyers in this country can claim. Among Cruz's wins was one over the Bush administration. You have offered no evidence that Ted Cruz would not be a nonpartisan justice. He is very well qualified for the SCOTUS, whether you agree with him politically or not - and many former politicians have served with distinction on the Court.

Trump won the election and promised to appoint qualified, conservative judges to the Supreme Court. Ted Cruz fits that description. He is not somebody who Hillary Clinton would have considered appointing, but she lost the election.

With a Republican senate? They would certainly be more in the Garland category. If the democrats had taken control of the senate then her nominations would have been extreme left wing and she would have made sure her agenda would have been accomplished. Hillary with a democrat senate would ensure that Roe v. Wade was upheld, the 2nd amendment would be more limited, etc.

I don't know what constitution you're reading but the founders of this country warned against partisanship. Ted Cruz has been very vocal on his views on issues that would undoubtably be brought before him in his service as a justice on the SC. You can't just turn these opinions on and off like a light switch.

Is it fair to assume that you opposed every one of the SCOTUS appointments made by Obama and Bill Clinton because of their radical views on the Constitution?
