November 8, 20169 yr I've never once asked my wife how she voted. It's such a personal thing that it truly doesn't matter to me how people vote.

November 8, 20169 yr I don't really understand the whole "it's a personal thing" attitude when it comes to voting, but I can respect it. This whole election cycle has reminded me that it's personal. Seeing people on facebook and here comment about not being friends anymore with people voting a certain way. Crazy how politics can cause such division even among friends. Personally I wont lose any friends over this but I see it just about every day on my newsfeed on facebook where someone posts along the lines "You think you know someone... until they vote for Trump and you find out how they really feel etc.."

To be clear, I have not ended friendships because people choose to vote for Trump. I have ended friendships because it became apparent that we share no common views. It's beyond ideological differences. I have ended friendships because it became apparent that I was not a person they respected. I still have friends who are voting for Trump. But for those who displayed attributes as described above...yeah...I walked away.

November 8, 20169 yr I get that, all I was saying is how I can see voting being a personal thing for some people that don't want others to know who and why they are voting the way that they are. You know, I've continued thinking about this. I think ultimately, the reason I have ended those friendships is because I saw myself becoming everything I despised about how they were treating me. I was compelled to attack the person. I was quick to be snarky. I was the worst version of myself. And I didn't like that in me at all. It's hurtful and frustrating when treated like that. I didn't want to become that person.

Very meaningful post. And I think this is precisely what Mr Trump has contributed most to this election cycle. He has brought out the very worst in people, especially in his supporters ,but also in those who oppose him. And what's worse ,Trump knows this but just doesn't care !!!
November 8, 20169 yr I've never once asked my wife how she voted. It's such a personal thing that it truly doesn't matter to me how people vote. Same here. It's a secret ballot. I don't ask her and she doesn't ask me.
November 9, 20169 yr I didn't ask my wife, but I know. My wife asked me and I proudly said who I was voting for and why. I'm not afraid
November 9, 20169 yr I've never once asked my wife how she voted. It's such a personal thing that it truly doesn't matter to me how people vote. I never asked my wife either, pretty much knew what she was going to vote for. I don't find it to be that personal. I think it should be discussed as a family. My oldest sent me a text from Lex. on Monday asking me who I was voting for and why. I told him and the reasons why. He said he figured that's where I was leaning. I told him he needs to execute his right, honor and privilege to vote. He agreed and drove his nephew up here and both cast their votes. Had dinner with them and they went back home. I never asked him who he voted for. Have an idea, but I think as we found out in yesterdays election, no one know what goes on in the booth.
