Election Day Emotions

Featured Replies

Never have I had emotions on an election day like I have today. No matter which presidential candidate wins, I think it is bad for the country. No matter who wins Congress I see nothing but continued disfunction. No matter what happens, I see hate being the dominant emotion tomorrow and for a long time after. I am so happy this election is over but am very worried about the results and aftermath no matter who wins. A very strange day.

I completely get what you're saying. But, as I mentioned in another thread, as a 50 year old female voter, seeing a female choice on the ballot in real life made me teary eyed. Just to have that CHOICE was an amazing feeling!

As an old white man, which based on comments of at least 1 outspoken poster in this forum has now become a pajorative term, I fear we're in for another 4 years of division only now disagreement with the administration will be met with charges of misogyny rather then racism.

I felt more empowered to vote today than anytime I can remember. Admittedly in large part due to two of our local races that we have just got to get the incumbents out of office.

I have no different emotions than any other time I have voted and I haven't missed one since 1972 and that is any election primary, local and national.

We are a country greater than any one individual or even a few. Let me say that every national election there were some that feared and actually declared doomsday, basically.

Life will go on and pretty much as it has been. If a person doesn't like what it has been is just not looking for the good stuff. It far outweighs the bad.

How local? City government or Frankfort?

I was more fired up to vote in our local council election today also. I'll always vote in Presidential Elections if I'm able, but the local council races are what drove me to the polls today.

On the other hand, the women in my life my wife, daughter, and daughter in laws have never been involved or talked about elections very much. Three are Democrats and two are Republicans and generally vote that way. All five are absolutely petrified that Trump is going to win. The have watched and read everything and believe me they have never done that before.

Three of them do not care for Hillary, and two like her. I believe all five might throw up before the day is over. I really have tried to temper them, to no avail, where they have turned on me a couple of times when I try and prepare them for a scenario where Trump wins.

Maybe it is just my family, but whoa, I have been shocked. If he wins, I may have to talk all five off a ledge (figuratively).

Let's say emotions are very high with them. Three of them have called me today to make sure I voted. That has never happened.

Every woman I know is terrified Hillary will win

One Frankfort, one county.

Their men have trained them well ... at least in their opinion.

Come on up for Thanksgiving. This is an official invite. I will be entertained. You will meet women that think differently, at least on this.

I've never been excited about Election Day. This is as close as I've ever been but it's less enthusiasm for Clinton than disdain for her opponent.

I've been enthusiastic about local races before, and I am again this time around, but that's resulted in voting for a whole lot of losers over the years.

Sorry if my first response came across wrong. It was a statement made out of shock and confusion. Let's approach this differently. What are the women you know terrified about if Hillary wins? I am looking for things they would be terrified about as women. That is what I didn't understand in your post.

Do you really want your thanksgiving to turn into National Lampoon.
