Bluegrasspreps' Class 4A Rankings - Discussion (11/1)

Featured Replies

My biggest issue with those best wins rankings is JC beating Ashland being better than Franklin-Simpson beating South Warren. Not sure I buy that one.

South Warren isn't close to the level they were last year, but this Ashland team is pretty ho-hum in my estimation and I would take SW by 4 TD's over them

Just a question, how is Lexington Catholic (5-5) is their 2nd best win? However, I will admit, LC did play a rather tough schedule.

That answers the question, I believe.

Who cares who is ranked #1, all that matters is who will be hoisting that championship trophy in BG. These rankings absolutely have no effect on seeding. So let all the talking be settled on the grid iron. It's HSF playoff time, the greatest time of year for a pigskin fan.

T2T top 10

1. Franklin Simpson

2. Hopkinsville

3. Johnson Central

4. S. Warren

5. Shelby Co.

6. Rockcastle

7 Wayne

8 Ashland

9 E. Jessamine

10 tie. Collins/John Hardin

I'm not sure exactly what formula CalPreps uses for their rankings, but I suspect the manor that JC beat Ashland earned them some bonus points. The only time that game was close is when Ashland drew first blood early in the game, outside of that JC dominated my Tomcats. Ashland's win over Tates Creek to end the season makes JC's performance over Ashland even that much more impressive.

Honestly I think bluegrasspreps got the rankings right by leaving JC at #1. A close loss to a very, very good Belfry team would be an impressive feat for 99% of the teams in the state. The fact that JC, squandered away several opportunities in the red zone and still had a chance to win says a lot, JMO.

I agree totally. Rankings are nothing more than bragging material. Congrats to FS for going 10-0. No one can take that accomplishment away.

Rankings are what they are, win or go home is all that matters at this point! Love this time of year!

Why Hopkinsville over Johnson Central?

Both teams are 9-1. Most would consider Belfry a better team than Christian County. Even if you consider those two equal losses JC's S.O.S. is significantly better though.

Had JC 2 and they lost. Had SW 3 and they lost. Hopkinsville won so bumped them up. Good year for the top 3.

I did the ole what have you done for me lately except for FS who had been my top dog all year.

Belfry's record somewhat inflates JC's overall number. if you back them out...42-46

Just because you're upset over FS/JC being flipped.....no way can you support rationally putting Hop-town over Johnson Central at this point. NO WAY, SHAPE or FASHION. They are for real.

I am with you... I can buy into the Franklin-Simpson earning #1 by being undefeated...I may even be in the boat to some extent. Going 10-0 and actually playing some quality teams is an accomplishment, even if their SOS isn't to the level of JC.

But when two teams have the same record there is no way Hoptown's body of work is better than JC's. If you are going off of "they dropped below them because they lost" then you also need to have Rockcastle County above South Warren. The Rockets are 9-1 with similar quality of victories as South Warren, and probably better wins than 9-1 Hoptown.

Shelby lost to Garrard. Rock destroyed Garrard.
