What are your thoughts of the final Bluegrasspreps Class 4A rankings for 2016? Is 2016 the year of the eagle, the Golden Eagle that is? Can anyone surprise Johnson Central in the playoffs? Is Franklin-Simpson capable? Who will win it all? Who will surprise us in the playoffs? Who may disappoint us?

Johnson Central lost (yes to a very good Belfry team) and is still #1 while FS completed a tough 10-0 season. Lack of respect in my opinion. It makes more sense to have the 10-0 team #1 then the 9-1 team. Just sayin'

So, you think teams should be ranked according to their record alone?

Top ten wins among both teams using current Calpreps nationwide rankings:

1. Johnson Central over Capital (WV)

2. Johnson Central over Lexington Catholic

3. Johnson Central over South Charleston (WV)

4. Franklin-Simpson over Greenwood

5. Johnson Central over Ashland

6. Franklin-Simpson over South Warren

7. Franklin-Simpson over Caldwell County [led 14-6 when game called at half]

8. Franklin-Simpson over Russellville

9. Johnson Central over Greenup County

10. Johnson Central over Harlan County

In addition, Belfry is ranked #384 in the nation, almost 500 spots better than Capital (JC's best win) and 1800 spots higher than Greenwood (F-S's best win).

I'll be honest I wasn't expecting it to be that top heavy in favorite of JC

By far FS should be awarded for their accomplishment and did just as much as JC to be #1 and of course I had them there all year. Boo to the new ranking. Will post mine shortly

Johnson Central's lost to Belfry was more impressive than Franklin-Simpson's best win. Hopkinsville's narrow loss to Christian County may be the most impressive performance that any western Kentucky 4A team has turned in this season, but the rest of their schedule has been very weak.

JC's opponents record: 51-47

FS's opponents record: 48-52

Thing is, they're really 1 and 1A. I'd probably pick Franklin-Simpson to win head-to-head. But that stats/data says Johnson Central is #1.

Franklin-Simpson has to survive Region One that has three of the top five rated teams. In 1994 and 1999 FS faced teams in the Regional Championship they had defeated in the regular season. BG in '94 and Owensboro in '99. Lost to BG by 3 and OHS by 1. South Warren has no doubts they can make history repeat in 2016. If the Spartans don't make it to week three it will be due to Hopkinsville. A team that without question has keen memories of FS going to the Stadium of Champions and dealing undefeated Hoptown a heartbreaking loss a year ago.

Keep JC at #1 please...the target on FS is big enough already.

Just a question, how is Lexington Catholic (5-5) is their 2nd best win? However, I will admit, LC did play a rather tough schedule.

Have you seen who LexCath's 5 losses have been to?

LexCath has played pound for pound the toughest schedule in the State of KY hands down.

Their losses are to:

6A #2 St. Xavier

4A #1 Johnson Central

5A #2 Covington Catholic

6A #12 Madison Central

6A #11 Cooper

Calpreps has all 5 of those teams as Top 25 squads OVERALL in the State of KY.

They also defeated 3A #8 Boyle County, 5A # 6 Southwestern.

Johnson Central was the worst loss they took on the year in terms of being dominated.

They had St. X down big at half too! Should have won that game.

For snots and giggles:

Calpreps says:

PROJECT A MATCHUP
