If Belfry loses to Johnson Central and Corbin beats Knox Central soundly, should the one loss Hounds jump Belfry heading into the post season?

Nope. A loss to Johnson Central is a loss to one of the 12~ best teams in all of Kentucky. A win over Knox Central wouldn't even be the best win Corbin has had this season. If Corbin isn't really being considered for #1 right now, a win over a 4-4-1 team probably won't change that.

 

On the flip side, if Corbin loses to Knox and Lexington Catholic beats Southwestern, does LexCath move to #2?

Nope. A loss to Johnson Central is a loss to one of the 12~ best teams in all of Kentucky. A win over Knox Central wouldn't even be the best win Corbin has had this season. If Corbin isn't really being considered for #1 right now, a win over a 4-4-1 team probably won't change that.

Depends on how LexCath fares against Southwestern... a team Corbin beat 20-8 and a team that beat Knox Central 34-20

 

If LexCath loses I think they remain behind.. if they win narrow I think they remain behind... but if Corbin loses and LexCath blows out Southwestern I think the Knights move to #2

Having seen both Corbin and LexCath, I honestly think Corbin is better. I think Corbin can do things offensively to keep the ball and thus keep Catholic's offense off the field. It would be an interesting matchup, though.

Caldwell Co plays a telling game this Friday night. Still a lot of questions to be answered in Princeton. Many of them could be resolved as the Tigers travel to Mayfield to play the best team in 2A. Barring a Cardinal blow out, the Tigers can make a statement this weekend. Stay close and battle, and I believe they are ready for a long run in the playoffs. Pull out a big win, and this squad could be bound for BG (not that they have to win @ Mayfield to get there). Take the hour and a half trip to Cardinal country and get spanked, and it leaves huge questions as to the validity of this team. The Tigers have struggled pulling out a win in Mayfield, but played a whale of game last year in Princeton. Make no bones about it, it should be a great one to see.

I really like Caldwell but they've let me down in the postseason several times lately. I'm taking a wait-and-see approach this year.

Caldwell is like buying Off Brand Peanut Butter.

 

They look like a contender, they smell like a contender, and people will swear they are a contender, when you first try them they taste like the real thing... but for whatever reason afterwards they just keep giving that bitter after taste and you go back to JIF.

 

I have a hard time trusting them after they continually find a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory time and time again.

Not sure... it's the darndest thing.

 

Maybe habit? Once a couple breaks didn't go their way early in the players' career they lose confidence and assume it will happen again?

 

Maybe the coaches are snake bitten and go too cautious? (The ole "Prevent" you from winning analogy)

 

I honestly don't know, but have to think it is psychological at some level.

 

Caldwell is 0-5 over the past two years in games decided by one score, included in that are some heartbreaking losses in the Final Seconds.

 

It does make me wonder what could happen if they got over that hump and somehow got a close win over Mayfield? Then again.. Mayfield isn't exactly the team you would anticipate the ball bouncing the other way from.

Would have to be a running clock I would think.
