I heard the ejection came pretty late, under 10 minutes left.

There's photos floating around that clearly show the Highlands player was not offsides and the goal should've stood. Bad call imo that shouldn't have been made by an out of position side judge.

Having not been at the game, and without any explanation of the photo, if the ball had been played from the player in White on the left to the player in White on the right, it appears to be a legal play.

What isn't evident, is what was the movement of the player on the right? Had she been moving from left to right? Right to left? Stationary? My gut tells me left to right, which in that case, would assume she was in an onsides position when the pass was made, therefore legal.

?? Highlands had one of the toughest schedules that you will ever find for the regular season. This comment is off base.

Maher ranking has NDA with a strength of schedule of 25, HHS a 51. As I mentioned on the boys side, Maher strength of schedule is NOT an opinion, it is generated by statistics. 50 teams in KY have played a tougher schedule then HHS and 24 of them have played a tougher schedule then NDA.

justsayin, says it just right, "What isn't evident,(in the still photo) is what was the movement of the player on the right?" Everyone has seen many, many times the offensive player standing in an offsides position when the ball is played then moves back into an onsides position before she receives the ball, which of course means she is offsides. I wasn't in position to say if this happened or not. My point is it does happen a lot and this photo alone does NOT prove she was onsides when the ball was played.

You also have to consider where the NDA player, closest to the camera, was when the pass was made. Was she further left or further to the right? If to the left, then the play was properly called off side. Is there video posted somewhere?

Still photos to prove an offsides call was incorrect? LOL

Shame on HHS coaches and parents for suggesting refs cost them the game.

Blame everyone else but the HHS players and coaches? I am sure there were MANY opportunities for HHS to win/tie besides one offsides call. How about stopping NDA from scoring? Where are the pictures for that? Teach your team how to gracefully accept a defeat and stop blaming others for things you can control. Good teams find a way to win. Accept you had a good season, lost the game, and root for one of the 16 remaining teams.

One thing to keep in mind when looking at the Maher rankings is that you have OH teams included in these numbers. If you filter out the OH schools when you look at the SOS, NDA would have the 11th toughest in KY and Highlands would have the 16th toughest.

Slightly related topic, any of those excellent photographers at the game get a good shot of all of the Regional Tournament winners at the end of the game? With all of the pro photographers on the field, the amateur parents in the stands couldn't get a group shot. Anyone willing to post one like the group photo from last year: http://bluegrasspreps.com/ky-girls-soccer/notre-dame-3-314506.html#post5698245

Thank you in advance.

I want to again add that the game demonstrated why these two teams were playing Saturday night. They were an excellent example of two well coached, highly prepared, very skilled teams leaving it all on the field. There was a ton of individual talent on that field yet they blended into two excellent teams. The rest of us in the 9th know it isn't going to get any easier on us next year either.

Congratulations to both teams.

Q, you need to show the other photo that shows the ball still at the player on the left's feet. That might help a little.

Watching the 2nd half of the game I would have to say NDA was the better team. I had no rooting interest. They have a deep bench and kept running girls in and out. HHS looked like they were relying on the long ball. NDA is much to quick for that.

As for the off sides call. It was a close call. One thing I always watch are how the coaches and player react to the call. There was not a big argument after the call, that tells me she was off sides.

On a side note I hope the 9th region takes tower park out of the rotation. Parking is terrible, you do not have enough stands for the crowd to sit in. They could have used at least twice the amount of bleacher space for that game.

Highlands had a great year, but Notre Dame hasn't won all those regionals by coincidence. I look forward to watching them over the next few years, particularly outstanding underclassmen Lindsay Meyer and Ali Gessner. Highlands will definitely be in the mix for the next 3 years ...

And while I agree one call should not be celebrated or bemoaned as the reason you won or lost, the morbid curiosity part of me would like to see the video that the stills were taken from .... is there a reason you didn't post the few seconds of video Q? I think that would put an end to that part of the conversation.

Tower will not be taken out of the rotation since it's one of the few fields that meets all the requirements. Standing room only for girls final NICE!
