LVGambla32 Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 How is the bracket format set up for this year? Which regions meet each other in the semifinals? I seen where someone thought Bowling Green would meet CovCath in the semis, which I though CovCath would meet maybe Pulaski and BG would meet a Louisville school or South Oldham.
NEERFAN Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 You are correct, BG and CCH would meet in the finals. A - AAAAA 1vs2, 3vs4, 5vs6, 7vs8.
DragonFire Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 You are correct, BG and CCH would meet in the finals. A - AAAAA 1vs2, 3vs4, 5vs6, 7vs8. That is not the case this year. The cross-bracketing has changed for 5A starting this year. You can see the bracket here: http://khsaa.org/football/2016/brackets/2016_5A.pdf But you can also see the future cross-bracketing plans here: Regional Football Cross Bracketing Through 2
Watusi Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 Even year, so CovCath would host Bowling Green if they both win out. Region 2 hosts Region 1, Region 4 hosts Region 3.
LVGambla32 Posted October 15, 2016 Author Posted October 15, 2016 So this means that Butler and J-Town will be making trips to Scott County and Lafayette in the 1st round, correct?
NEERFAN Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 That is not the case this year. The cross-bracketing has changed for 5A starting this year. You can see the bracket here: http://khsaa.org/football/2016/brackets/2016_5A.pdf But you can also see the future cross-bracketing plans here: Regional Football Cross Bracketing Through 218 | Kentucky High School Athletic Association As you can see, Region 1 and 4 stay the same - District 1 vs. District 2 and District 7 vs. District 8. But this year, Region 2 will be District 4 vs. District 5, and Region 3 will be District 3 vs. District 6. District 4 is the Louisville district, with Fern Creek, Southern, Doss, etc., while District 5 is the NKY district, with CovCath, Dixie Heights, etc. So if CovCath were to advance far enough, they would meet Bowling Green in the state semifinals. The A-AAAA brackets must have put me in a trance.
NEERFAN Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 CLASS 6A District 1 – Daviess County, Henderson County, McCracken County, Muhlenberg County, Ohio County District 2 – Central Hardin, Meade County, North Hardin District 3 – Butler, DuPont Manual, Male, Pleasure Ridge Park, St. Xavier District 4 – Ballard, Eastern, Jeffersontown, Seneca, Trinity (Louisville) District 5 – Conner, Cooper, Ryle District 6 – Boone County, Campbell County, Simon Kenton District 7 – Bryan Station, Henry Clay, Paul Laurence Dunbar, Scott County District 8 – George Rogers Clark, Lafayette, Madison Central, Tates Creek 1vs3 2vs4 5vs7 6vs8 5th place from 3 would become the 4th place in 6 5th place from 4 would become the 4th place in 5
Watusi Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 So this means that Butler and J-Town will be making trips to Scott County and Lafayette in the 1st round, correct? In 6A the 2016 playoffs are as follows District 1 plays District 3 District 2 plays District 4 District 5 plays District 7 District 6 plays District 8 And to add to the fun, since Districts 2, 5 and 6 only have 3 teams, we have an algorithm to decide who gets to be the 4th team for playoffs For postseason competition, in Class 6A, 5th place from District 1 as the 4th place in District 2 for playoff brackets; 5th place from 3 would become the 4th place in 5 for playoffs in odd numbered years; 5th place from 3 would become the 4th place in 6 for playoffs in even numbered years; 5th place from 4 would become the 4th place in 6 for playoffs in odd numbered years; 5th place from 4 would become the 4th place in 5 for playoffs in even numbered years.
Watusi Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 If I follow all of that correctly, then... Ohio Co would likely move to D2 as the 4 seed and travel to Trinity in round 1 Jeffersontown would likely move to D5 as the 4 seed and travel to Scott Co in round 1 Butler would likely move to D6 as the 4 seed and travel to Lafayette in round 1
Tigerpride94 Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 Trinity and Scott Co could probably put their JV teams on field and win first round. Huge mismatches there!

Dark Horse78 Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 Going to be a long night for Butler and Jeffersontown and a really long night for Ohio County. Nah...running clocks make it a quick game. They will all be done by 9 oclock...but the bus ride will be LONG for sure.
