October 25, 20169 yr KSP plea brings ‘several responses’ in Goodlett case | TheNewsEnterprise.com A plea from the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch seeking information from students of two area high schools received “several responses” after it was issued Friday. GOODLETT GOODLETT Investigators are seeking students who might have had their cellphones confiscated since 2010 at Elizabethtown and LaRue County high schools, where Kyle Goodlett once worked. Goodlett, 36, faces 63 felony charges related to child pornography. Lt. Jeremy Murrell of KSP said the responses have come by email and phone and from parents and students of the schools. “We set up an email box and we have had several responses that way,” he said. Murrell didn’t provide a specific number of responses. He said the KSP Electronic Crime Branch wants to get a pool of people to interview about their cellphones. “We may talk to them on the phone or we may sit down with them for an interview,” Murrell said. He expects the investigation into Goodlett’s actions “will be lengthy.” “There are no new charges on Mr. Goodlett, but we expect that there will be,” Murrell said Monday. Goodlett, who was in his fourth year as principal at LaRue County High School, was arrested Oct. 13 at his Elizabethtown home after a search of his electronic devices. He is charged with 60 counts of possession or viewing of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor and three counts of first offense distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor. He initially was suspended by LaRue County Public Schools, but his employment was terminated Oct. 18. In a one-paragraph statement issued Friday, the KSP Electronic Crime Branch sought the assistance of any students at Elizabethtown High School from 2010 to 2012 or LaRue County High School from 2012 to 2016 who might have had their cellphone confiscated by school staff. A complaint filed with the Elizabethtown Police Department regarding the possibility of Goodlett sharing images of child sexual exploitation online triggered the investigation. “We’re tasked with fact-finding and turning over all the rocks to see what’s going on,” Murrell said. Goodlett appeared Monday morning in Hardin District Court, where he waived his right to a preliminary hearing in the case, paving the way for his case to be heard by a Hardin County grand jury as early as Thursday. At his appearance, which lasted no more than three minutes and was the first case called on Judge Kimberly Shumate’s docket, Goodlett was told to have no contact with anyone younger than 18 as part of his bond requirements. He also is to only have contact with his own three children if someone from Child Protective Services is present. A $7,500 cash bond was posted for Goodlett’s release from the Hardin County Detention Center a day after his arrest. The charges against Goodlett are Class D felonies punishable by one to five years in prison, if convicted, on each count. Students still are encouraged to contact the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch at [email protected] if their phone was confiscated at either school during the timeframe under investigation.

October 27, 20169 yr I'm not sure what will be on his EPSB certification page, but if he is convicted of these felonies, I'd be shocked if this person is able to secure a teaching or coaching job (in a public school system) ever again. Any school system worth a dime would google his name and these articles would pop up.

I can't imagine that the EPSB would not pull his certificate over these crimes, even if they hadn't involved his own students. Seems like a no brainer.
