The Supreme Court Issue

Featured Replies

This is one of the big issues, especially for conservatives in this election.

What will be the Supreme Court impact to American citizens if Trump wins?

What if Hillary wins?

What do you think will change in America, since the Supreme Court can only rule on issues that come to them and a cannot make changes on their own like Congress or the President?

If Hillary wins, I wouldn't be shocked to see Ginsburg retire in the next couple years. It would be interesting to see what Kennedy might do.

Clinton presidency following Obama presidency undoubtedly turns the court back to the left in a way it hasn't been since the Reagan administration.

The major reason I am voting for Hilary. It was the only one until DT's latest antics.

It'll be interesting to see what types of cases the court will take if it turns left.

A challenge to Citizens United and current campaign finance law seems likely.

Privacy will continue to be a huge part of the court's business in the coming years.

I'd have to think about more detail.

I believe that Senator McConnell and his brethren made a bad mistake when they stonewalled the SCOTUS nomination process.

They're likely to got a lot worse (to them) in 2017.

I knew back then that they were making a YUUUUGE mistake !!!

This is the big question I've tried to raise without much of an answer. I get it, if Clinton wins, we'll have a more left-leaning SC. I also admit, I'm more comfortable with a more conservative court. However, what cases are they going to hear that have a direct impact on me? Because if it doesn't impact me, I don't give a crap about it.

Campaign Finances? Don't care.

Abortion? Already legal with a non-left leaning court. Not changing anything.

The 2nd Amendment? Yeah, right. That's not going to happen regardless of how much people want to try to convince others.

Campaign finance is a HUGE issue. It is a very big reason we are left with candidates like Trump and Congressional seats don't change as often as they should. They bar qualified candidates from running without being backed by deep pockets wanting influence.

Not to me...

Not to me...

Well, glad you don't speak for the rest of America.

Campaign finance is a huge issue. Trump could have grabbed some undecideds with a push in this direction, but he seems to have allowed HRC ride with it, which seems a little ironic.

I could also see a liberal SCOTUS hearing issues with the death penalty.

So am I...:lol2:

That's been building; death penalty abolitionists have been gaining ground for years. I don't think a full ban will come in the next presidential term, but it's definitely something that the court could begin to take up as they've been chipping away at it for some time.

No issues with that whatsoever....We're way to advanced and civilized of a nation to be putting people to death IMO.
