Highlands 52 Cov Cath 6 (Frosh)

Featured Replies

I have never seen such a disparity in talent between CCH and Highlands as there is this year. I have been told that this is maybe the most talented Highlands class in recent memory, but you should never see a freshman margin of victory as ridiculous as this.

.

I would think the thinking of "if CCH doesn't win this year...." would only be true if HHS was down from their typical year.

What am I missing?

Why?

Just the obvious factor comes to mind:

CCH is a extremely senior-laden class with not much depth from underclassmen, while HHS is loaded in classes 9-11.

I know you can't put much stock in Frosh games, but these games haven't even been close the last 3 years, especially this year. Each year has gotten worse.

Here's hoping the 3 kids on crutches on the CCH sidelines were 3 future all-staters.

I can't believe I'm posting in a Freshman thread (twice), but can someone answer this:

Is CCH running the same offense as the Varsity?

They spread it out usually every couple of plays, which I think was more than they did last year.

My fault. I thought we were saying it was imperative at the FROSH level.

Thanks.:thumb:

I've heard people I respect say that CCH should NOT be running that complicated spread offense at the FROSH level, and then others that I respect saying they absolutely should be running the same play book as the Varsity. I'll be honest, what I know about (and frankly, care about) FROSH football would rattle in a thimble, but I'd like some opinions on that.

Highlands FROSH team, from a complete outsider, has clearly dominated their CCH peers recently...if one can equate that to the string of W's the varsity has put up is for someone to answer besides me.

IMO you cannot teach much of the varsity offense in such a short time. Unlike the Ft Thomas feeder system where it may be designed to teach the "Bluebird" way, CCH does not have that luxury. Heck, the coaches are still trying to figure out who can play where much less teaching the intricacies of the spread.

At what point of the game did CCH put up 6?

It was late in the game on a long pass against the 2nd team D.

There was a coverage breakdown.

I was a nice pass though.

CCH did not move the ball at all against the 1st unit. (and really only a play or two on the 2's)

I was at the game and i know there were a couple of things that were truly obvious. Highlands was bigger, faster, stronger and played the game like is suppose to be played. With Passion!!!!!! The future is definately bright for the Team From Ft Thomas. :ylsuper:

Highlands runs a totally different offense at the Frosh level than any of the teams used in the Ft. Jr. Football league last year. The FTJFL requires a 6-2 defense and the Frosh play a 3-5. These kids played on 4 different teams in the FTJFL last year with a few others playing in the NKFL and others.

Mark my words...Donnie Brown will start varsity as a Soph...The kid is big, strong, and fast. He is an absolute animal.:jump: :jump:

At what point did Highlands start to take it easy on them?

Easy?

Everybody on the team played a lot (there are only about 30) but it was CovCath, they all played hard 'til the end.

The score could have been much worse though.

CCH didn't exactly help the cause either: fumble inside their 20, Highlands onside kicked and recovered in the 1st Q, a punt return TD, personal foul penalty on another drive.

Usually CCH is the one with the bigger boys, however that is not the case this year. Hopefully from a colonel perspective, that after some of these boys hit the weights for a few years, and get a grasp on the offense, they can slice the deficit a bit.

I noticed it was 33-0 at the half. Just figured it could have been much worse. Sounds like Highlands is very good and it's still early. Is there anyone of the schedule that will challenge them this year?

How could it have been any worse? They scored on virtually every drive!
