Reds off season 2017

Report says BP blocked a trade to the Braves.

I'm actually surprised by this. Braves sucked last year, but I expect them to be a lot better this year.

Seen he also blocked trades to the Nationals and D-Backs.

Dude must really just want to stay in Cincy. Can't fault him for that.

Any rumors as to who Reds would have got from Braves?

Tweet from Bowden about the possible Phillips/Braves deal:

According to a Reds club source there is still a possibility that Brandon Phillips could be traded to the Atlanta Braves, a deal in which the Reds would pay most of Phillips contract. The deal would allow the Reds to open the door for their prized prospect Jose Peraza. However, Reds executives acknowledge that they made promises and assurances to Phillips that they are not living up to and will have to work through those issues directly with Phillips before a deal can be consummated. Phillips has a full-no trade clause and nixed a deal to the Washington Nationals last year. The Braves are trying to be more competitive this year as they open their new stadium

Not a good look for the Reds going forward when you're openly acknowledging that you've broken promises to players.

As I have said repeatedly until ownership goes....................................

He wants a deal that goes beyond the year left on his contract, and no-one is willing to do that so far.

I don't think ownership necessarily needs to go. They just need to quit hiring friends and relatives with no background in professional baseball.

Interesting tweet from Brandon Phillips about an hour ago:

There's "3" sides to EVERY story.

There's one side, there's the other.

And then there's the TRUTH ~ #Monstar

Marty didnt say anything about Votto the other night. I was talking about his comment about Mike Brown and the Bengals.

Sorry. I didn't hear those comments.

Sorry. I didn't hear those comments.

I didn't see one single thing about it anywhere so I doubt it was much.

The way he treats the caller is worse than anything on votto. Marry is a first class you know what but at same time I don't want a homer, I can listen to Bengals game for that.

Votto is obviously not a favorite of Marty but as I said in my earlier post, there's nothing personal in his tirade. Simply thinks he's overpaid, a bad contract for a small market team and without saying it, may not think much of him in clubhouse either.
