January 13, 20179 yr Author Reds avoided arbitration with Hamilton, Wood, Cozart, and Cingrani today... So does that now create a problem at SS?
January 13, 20179 yr Author How would it create a problem at SS? Wasnt the goal to get rid of Cozart?
January 13, 20179 yr Wasnt the goal to get rid of Cozart? Still is....I'm really not sure what you're talking about.
January 13, 20179 yr Author Still is....I'm really not sure what you're talking about. Being they reached a deal before arbitration dont they have to keep him now for a year?
January 13, 20179 yr Being they reached a deal before arbitration dont they have to keep him now for a year? Not that I'm aware of. He was under contract for this season whether the $$ was agreed upon by them, or whether it went to arbitration.
January 13, 20179 yr The goal is still to trade Cozart. This is how baseball contracts work and had nothing to do with him being traded or not.
January 19, 20179 yr Whoa... Jeff Passan Verified account @JeffPassan Sources: Marlins near deal for starter Dan Straily from Cincinnati. RHP Luis Castillo and Austin Brice, plus third prospect, go to Reds.
January 19, 20179 yr If the deal goes through, Brice should slide into the ML bullpen as he made his debut last year. Castillo is still about a year or so away, but kid has a big arm. He was the piece that the Marlins had sent to SD last year for Colin Rea, only to get him back a week later when Rea had an elbow injury discovered. Brice was the Marlins #9 prospect according to MLB.com last year and Castillo their #5 prospect. Getting two organizational top 10's for a guy you picked up off the scrap heap last year is a pretty good return IMO.
