I drive by those same rules of driving. Especially #1 and #2. I also guarantee that if I am speeding I am focused on the road and others around me. When I am doing the speed limit or less I am more apt to be distracted by my phone.

I agree with you that the government does gouge our wallets for tickets. Even if you don't go to court to dispute a ticket, they charge you court costs!? That's crap.

I've never disputed a ticket. I always pay the money. I know I was guilty every single time. Can't deny that one. :lol2:

Why waste resources staking out speeding cars and not houses that are known spots of drug dealing?

Because sitting around staking out houses would be a waste of time for most cops. Uniformed officers are almost never used in drug investigations beyond making the final arrest after the investigation is complete.

 

If police officers didn't patrol the roads the roads would be like the wild wild west...trust me you don't want there to never be police officers on the roads.

 

Most police officers will allow people to go up to 9 MPH over the speed limit on highways, if you drive faster than that you are deciding to take your chances.

 

I simply think speeding tickets are stupid and a waste of time and resources and are hypocritical. They aren't done for safety they are done for money.

Got busted for doing a pump fake and rolling through a turn lane only in Chicago. Night time, No one around, right on red. Got hit for the ticket, and had to pay Hertz some bonus cash. If I get busted for speeding, I knew the law and pay the fine. Chance I take. What was the old saying "speed kills".

More drugs are probably caught on highway traffic stops than any other single place.

Speeding tickets do not stop people from speeding.

Everyone keeps talking about the money grab from tickets. Yeah there are some small fines and hefty court cost that come with speeding tickets. But as someone that has direct insight into the budgeting and finances of a department, it's never once been brought up that they need more tickets written to help with tight budget issues. I'm not sure where all of that money goes, but if any goes back to the police departments it is a very very small percentage of the fines. While all of the court cost goes to the AOC (Administrated Office of the Courts)

I don't have a problem with police officers on the road. That ensures there is a police presence and is something I feel is needed for order. More often than not people fly right when they see the police.

Just like every speeder, (way less than 1% of them actually get speeding tickets) doesn't get a ticket...every drug dealer can't be rounded up all at once. Have to build a legal case with evidence and willing testimony, those take time.

When did they reduce it? As one who speeds often I love that the limit is 70 on the interstate in most states. I can handle 55 on state highways and 65 on some of the more wide open state highways. More often than not I'll stay 5-10mph over the limit.
