Dabo Swinney:It's so easy to say we have a race problem, but we got a sin problem"

Featured Replies

It's easy to say love your neighbor but look around - who are your neighbors? I bet they look just like you. One of the biggest problems with race relations, IMO, is that blacks and whites aren't neighbors. For the most part, we don't eat, drink, pray, play together in the same community. Yeah, we work together and attend sports functions together but at the end of the day, black people go back to their black neighborhoods and white people go back to their white neighborhoods. Blended communities do exist but they are the exception; not the rule in America.

Did MLK ever disgrace the flag.

Obviously JMO, but neither has Kaepernick...

Isn't Dabo saying what CK is saying?

Some parallels, but that is a stretch, in my opinion. Kap's original (verbal) message has been reshaped the past couple of weeks to spin more positively.

Peaceful protest is not disgracing the flag. It's what the flag stands for.

Let's get into this.

Dabo said to love they neighbor. CK is saying that too many blacks are not being loved by their white neighbor.

Dabo said that MLK believed that everyone was equal. CK doesn't see everyone getting equal treatment.

You say what to that?

100 % agree with him.

I guess I should have asked you as the creator of this thread what part(s) of his comments caused you to post the thread.

That the problems we see and have today are all sin problems and if we all did our best to follow the teachings of Jesus that we wouldn't have all the problems that derive from hate that we have today. To me its all that simple.

But that's segregation......

What I said before. Not fully off, but it is a reach. Kap said cops are willfully murdering African Americans with no repercussions. Since that time his original statement has been ignored and massaged into "Kap was simply highlighting the social/racial inequities which exist and he has sparked a national conversation," which is more in-line with what Dabo said. And yes, that is a conversation worth having.

But that's segregation......

I'm not sure I understand your post.

I do chuckle at these folks who say "Do it like Martin Luther King, Jr did." Yeah. How did he do it? Peaceful protest. What did CK do? Peaceful protest.

I HATE when people bring MLK into discussions because if MLK was alive he'd be on the sideline with Kap taking a knee. Anyone who thinks otherwise only post his quotes on MLK day to look good.

28And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live. 29But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour? 30And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. 31And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. 32And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side. 33But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, 34And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. 35And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. 36Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves? 37And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

It's smart aleck remark not aimed at you but what you just said in your post is pretty much what I said the whole thread about Cal University having a black only dorm and everyone said that it is segregation and wrong.

Gotcha.

The Bible tells us that yet it's been a problem forever and is still a problem. I'm not sure what that fact tells us other than it's not a new problem nor one that is easily corrected.

It's only wrong if they offer it for cheaper living and don't offer something of the sort to different races.
